Nov. 30th, 2015 10:20 pm1. Emma has become besotted with Supernatural though she has only seen one or two episodes from way into the series. She is constantly looking at fanart and gifs and is listening to tons of classic rock on her tablet in her bedroom. It is adorable.
Yesterday, I asked Fiona, "Who do you love?" And Fiona said, "Castiel." And I said, "What?" And Emma said, "Oh, yeah. I taught her to say that because he is totally the best." And I said, "How do you know since you've never seen the show at all?" And Emma said, "He just is! But guess what I really ship, Mom? It's Destiel!" And then she laughed and laughed and told me all about her favorite Destiel fan art.
Then today at dinner when I told her the Civil War trailer had come out, she was all, "Who's gonna be on who's side? I mean, it's Bucky and Steve, obviously, but where do the others fall? Tony and Bruce are totally science BFFs, but Tony and Steve are BFF, too, so it'll be really hard watching them on opposite sides."
I explained to her that I didn't see a whole lot of evidence for Tony and Steve being BFF so much as teammates who are often slightly antagonistic with one another to which she countered, "But they are! They are! They're just those kinda friends who go Meh at each other in public but love each other behind the scenes. You know, like me and Callie."
Later during a discussion of how hard it is for Steve to find a girlfriend because no one understands him (her words, not mine), Emma said, "I guess I could ship him with Bucky, but he needs some more characterization and personality than he got in the other movies. We'll see." Then she announced that Tony is probably too old to be anyone's boyfriend.
So, to recap, my baby is using the word ship independently of my direction, and is clearly going to eventually claim the title of One Wanker to Rule Them All.
