1. We have a new provost. This is our fourth provost in six years. I really hope this one is in for the long haul. It is very disruptive and disheartening to have constant turnover at that level. I like this guy so far. He made a good first impression and said all the right things at convocation. I hope he continues to live up to that first impression.
2. I got offered an ecore class yesterday. Hurray! These are the online classes that are offered by my university system that are independent of any institution and staffed by professors from across the system. It's excellent extra money and pays more than teaching an overload class for my institution. I had to sit out last year from teaching ecore because I got a course release to chair Executive Committee, and I was worried I might have trouble getting back on the teaching roster. So this is excellent news and very welcome in light of Emma's college bills. :)
3. Poor Emma. I gave her some errands to run yesterday while we were at convocation. She put her wallet on top of the car and then lost it and spent an hour and a half in abject misery trying to find it and then getting caught in automated hell trying to talk to someone at the bank to cancel her debit card (and frantically texting me and Josh during our meeting), and then she found it in the garage. *pets her* I hope her new debit card will arrive before she has to leave next week, but no harm done. And I bet she'll never put her wallet on top of the car again. LOL
4. We watched Cabin in the Woods this week with Emma. For the most part, it really holds up. The humor still works, and it worked for Emma who is very picky and often thinks older movies/TV shows we find good/funny are Very Much Not. When the voice comes over the intercom at the end, she was all, "Is that Ripley?" LOL I just kept boggling at how wee Chris Hemsworth is in that movie, both in terms of age and in terms of general rippedness. And it's only an hour and a half long. Oh, how I miss the hour and a half long movie.
5. Saving the best for last: Josh is cured of the cdiff! Thank the baby Jesus in his golden diapers!
