WHEN I SAY

WTF, Kripke, re: Ruby.

You had a chance, man, and you have done so well with all your other chances (Samuel Colt made a gun *shivers*), that this little lapse into retarditude pisses me off all the more.

Way to take the easy way out. Way to take a morally ambiguous and therefore interesting character and give her the salient qualities of a turnip. Love ya for that.

OMG this episode! OK, so does Ruby's speech at the end mean that the "demon blood" was a placebo? That it was really just human blood, and a vehicle to allow Sam to tap into power he already had? Confused!!

And yeah, way to fail *hard*. Why do they even bother having female characters? Argh. Why couldn't she be misinformed, and stuck in the middle, just like Castiel? WTF?

I'm pulling this out of my butt, but I think choosing to drink what he assumed was evil was about making a choice. It worked like a placebo/crutch. He thought he was powering up,and so allowed himself to access the more deeply buried stuff.

I just hope whats-her-face the renegade angel comes back. I know she's not a fan-favourite, but at this point she maybe the only woman left. The show's got a worse gender ratio than countires that practice sex selective abortion and innfanticide.

And Kripke wonders why there's so much slash.....

*nods*

That's pretty much what I say downthread.

I liked Anna quite a bit, and I do hope she comes back.

And maybe they can drag Ellen and Jo back into next season. At least they're not dead yet. *headdesk*

Here's my thought.

I do think he got addicted to the demon blood and I do think the demon blood changed him. I don't think it was completely inert as her speech seemed to imply.

What I think she meant is that he didn't need to drink the blood to use his powers or to become more powerful. I think drinking the demon blood was this twisted game she played with him to see how far he would go, how corrupt he'd become, how much hers Sam could be.

I wanted her to be Castiel's counterpart on the other side as well. I really, really thought that's where they were going with that. Dammit!

Loved the ep, but I was left wondering why Sam was so willing to place all his trust in a demon. Morally ambiguous, maybe, but essentially on the side he's supposed to be fighting, surely?

I think he couldn't help but think of his favorite TV show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and he was certain Ruby was his vampire with a soul. LOL

She played him, played us as viewers, and I feel betrayed. Of course, Sam put way too much trust in her; he went off the deep end in a major way.

Honestly I wasn't really all that betrayed by this. I saw it coming the very first time we met Ruby. The twist I didn't see Kripke throwing was Zach and the "we want Armageddon. Duh." I mean, almost every end-of-the-world text or media I've been interested has posed that the angels actually want it, so I'm not surprised that the point was made. Just that Kripke would go to such an obvious plot fork.

That's my two cents anyway. I won't give my opinion on the gender thing.

I was the other way around, actually. Heeeeee. I saw the whole "God has left the building" but I really wanted something different for Ruby.

Oh well!

How will we survive until the new season starts? Eeeeep!

How funny. To me, if Ruby had been the 'demon with the heart of gold', or even the 'demon who still kills but doesn't want Lucifer back' i would have been pissed, 'cause that? Boooooring. I love that she was what she was - a *demon*. A person who, hundreds of years ago, sold her soul for power, and lost her humanity in Hell and she is...evil. Unrepentant, revelling in it, working for *two years* to get Sam to trust her and to coax him along the road she needed him on.

To me, that was *awesome*, and annoyances at the actors' aside, Ruby FTW!!

And of course, she had to die, and i would have been pissed if she'd escaped or anything. Her ending was meet and fitting.

That is funny. :)

I'm one of those who has always liked the actors playing Ruby; I always thought they did a really great job.

I agree with you that the kind of effort it must have taken to keep up this charade for such a length of time is really cool. I wonder if she really did come to care for Sam at all or if that was entirely a ruse as well.

I just...i guess i'm rather tired of cute, petite, uses sex as a deflection 'girls' playing parts like that. I'd like to see something *different*. Make Ruby a *boy*. Make her a forty-five year old woman who's a little heavy. Make her a kid, or hell, an octagenarian. I dunno. I just didn't care for how she was written the first season we had her - all that snark and sarcasm and 'i'm so hot and tough and *know stuff you don't*' posturing gets old for me real quick.

I liked Genevieve more than...Katie? But i'm still tired of cute little girls playing all the roles like that.

Yis, i'm a crabby old biddy. :)

I think she had affection for him in that he was her means to an end, her prodigy and her apprentice and omg, look how good he did, look how well he choose badly over and over! you know? I think she looked on him like a good, loyal dog who kept learning new tricks.

Well, I kinda feel that way about casting for shows in general. It's one of the reasons I'm so intrigued by Dr. Who. There are beautiful people on their casts, but mostly just normal or even slightly weird looking people. What would the show be like if *Sam and Dean* weren't conventionally attractive?

That being said, it's a double edged sword because I like to look at pretty people. Heeeee.
