It's going around again! Questions from Grace. If you want to be interviewed, let me know and I'll ask you some questions.
1. How did you get into fandom?
In late fall 2004, I was in my office and I was sad because Firefly was over and Buffy was over and Angel was gonna be over and I googled Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I think had these vague thoughts of finding out what the cast was doing or maybe finding a picture for my desktop. What I found was Annie Sewell Jennings. I read Angels of the Silences, a Spuffy piece, and I sat back in my chair and my jaw dropped open and I said, "Oh. My. God. Why did I not know this existed?" I quickly found the Spander she had written and I was smitten.
I immediately began writing my first fanfic, Shadowlands and posting it to UCSL. I posted a message asking for a beta before I posted the fic.
shannon730 answered and connected me with
kittypoker1 who became my beta. I got many very positive responses on the USCL Yahoo listserv and before long I had also met
amejisuto and
suki_blue who conspired with Kitty to bring me over to lj. Because I am at heart a luddite, I refused to get an lj, but when presented with one (with an awesome friends list already intact!), how could I refuse?
2. Do you see ST Reboot as a permanent new fandom for you or just a dalliance?
My very first fanfic was Star Trek TNG. I didn't know it was fanfic, but that's immaterial. I wrote a play for me and my little brother to act; I made us necklaces of yarn with the names of all the characters strung on. We would pull that name to the front of the necklace when we were playing that character. (I made him be all the girls LOL because Worf and Picard and Data kicked way more ass.) Reboot isn't perfect. Plot holes in the film? Gaping. Lack of chicks? Glaring. But I think the movie was fun and enjoyable and energetic and well casted and oh so rife for fanfic. I kinda think I'm here to stay. (Although, to be fair, I have trouble categorizing any fandom as permanent because I sense in myself the potential to move on to something shiny should it present itself.)
3. What's your favorite fic you've written? Why?
This changes all the time, but currently it's the things which I have seen I now can see no more (SPN; Pamela-centric gen; PG-13). I love her character, but I hate the way the show wrote her off. This is my tribute.
4. What are your five favorite songs of the moment?
Lady Gaga "Poker Face"
Rolling Stones "Sister Morhpine"
Aaron Copeland "Appalachian Spring"
Ryan Adams "Come Pick Me Up"
Radiohead "Black Star"
5. Tell me about your username.
Refering back to the first question, those lovely ladies made my lj behind my back and took my email address as my lj handle. Back when I first got on aol, we had a cat named Luna that I often called Lunabee. I tried to get Lunabee as my email address. I then entered a sequence of numbers that got randomer and randomer until aol accepted lunabee34 which has no significance at all.
