YOU LIKE ME! YOU REALLY LIKE ME!!!!
In a wonderful and amazing Merry Christmas to Lorraine,
executrix has just posted the best Buffyverse mpreg of ever. And it's all for me! Go read Stake Down for a Thousand Ducats (PG-13) in which Cordelia says such things as “Because, ever since I was a little girl, my ambition was to live in a hospice for vampires." Read, giggle, tear up a little bit at the end. I guarantee you'll love this as much as I do.

Matt has a kid who is precious and adorable. McClane agrees. This fic is nearly big bag length so it's a good, meaty read for these cold winter nights.

I really, really like this fic. It's a very thoughtful look at advertising and youth culture in our society from an outside perspective. It's also a really wonderful look at the friendship between Teyla and Rodney.

Date: 2010-12-14 03:04 pm (UTC)Hey. So, how are you in terms of spare time these days?
I'm determined to kick my immense (120 000 word-ish) G/X out of the nest, and I really need someone fresh to read it.
It's not going to be a great fat slab; the story is mostly complete, but there are a few potholes I need to fix, so I plan to post over a few months, tidying as I go.
So what I'm looking for is someone who can skim chapters along the way, for fast surface stuff, most especially non-American language, that sort of thing. I don't need deep surgery (or more to the point, can't do any more), but I am hoping for a fairly fast turnaround so I can keep posting steadily.
If you can't, that's totally okay; I'm sure I can find someone, but you are who I thought of first. (You are American, yes? Also because I know you're good with het and children and other such things that are in it.) And if you could, that would be awesome.

Date: 2010-12-14 06:20 pm (UTC)I love to beta. It's one of my very, very favorite things to do. I love the sneak peek.
Here's my schedule: I will be leaving on Dec 17 and prob not have internet access until Sunday the 19th. I will have access 19-21ish and then it will become more dubious from the 22-28. I will have access for that period but may not be able to use it very often, etc. I can't really predict how often I'll be able to get on at my mom's. We'll travel back the 29th and from the 30th on, I'll have my regular uninterrupted internet access.
So I guess what I'm saying is, I would love to work with you on this as long as you are okay with working around my holiday schedule. I don't know how quickly you want to start getting it out there. I'd be able to do a chapter this week and a chapter next and then after that whatever posting schedule you'd like. Does that make sense?
Re: On another matter.
Date: 2010-12-14 10:01 pm (UTC)My plan was to start posting in the new year, a fresh start for Giles and Xander kind of thing, so that would work out perfectly - I could send you the first couple of chapters, and then I'd be ready to post them come January.
I work in plain text, so do you have preference for how to get chapters? I can do text, Works file, locked lj, google docs...
