I Bring My Better Angels To Every Fight (The Man in the Mirror Remix) by lls_mutant; Glee; Burt Hummel-centric gen; PG-13; long
I love this fic so damn much. On a technical note, I am hugely impressed that someone was able to write a fic this epic in this amount of time. And what a rich, rich backstory lls_mutant has made for Burt and Kurt here. This is the story of how Burt comes to accept his son's sexuality, and it begins when Kurt is just a small child. All the layers of detail in this fic plus the excellent characterization make it a top pick from this year's Remix for me.

Puddle Jumping by CalamityJim; SPN/Gateverse XOVER; Gen; PG-13; long
This is a fun story. Sam and Dean are born into new lives in another dimension (guess which one LOL), and find their way to Atlantis. And, oh yeah, John Sheppard is their dad, but he hasn't got a clue. :) There's a WIP sequel here: Faustian Hopscotch.

The Strange Disappearance of Sally Anne Perks by Paimpont; HP; Gen; PG-13; long
I absolutely adore this story. It's long and plotty and truly intriguing. I love the character insight here. In the first book when the children are Sorted, Sally-Anne Perks is sorted into Hufflepuff. JKR never mentions her again. In their third year, Harry is the only one who seems to remember that she ever existed. This is a wonderful mystery; it's creepy at times and the way everything slots together in the end is really cool.

And Beneath That, A Rebel Heart by missparker; Voyager; Janeway/Paris; Adult; long
I initially did not like Janeway/Paris; it seems an implausible pairing. Boy, have I changed my mind, mostly because the fics that feature these two don't elide the problems that their relationship would create but focus on working through them. In this fic, Janeway has amnesia and has to work through that experience while developing feelings for Tom Paris.

Absumption by drsquidlove; Paris/Janeway; Adult; long
This is the fic that changed by mind about how awesome Paris/Janeway can be. It's based on one of my favorite episodes, "Timeless," and is based on the premise that some of the crew survive the crash. Oh, bless my pea picking heart. Wow. The angst factor here is through the roof. Check out the rest of the doc's Voyager fic here. It's all stellar, particularly "The Lover."

Torch's Voyager fic
Everything here is awesome and is almost exclusively Tom/Harry and Adult (and loong!). Imagine my surprise when I started Wayback Machining old Voyager fic and discovered that the main m/m slash pairing is *not* Tom/Harry but Tom/Chakotay. It's sort of like finding out in Buffy fandom that the juggernaut pairing is Spike/Xander. Buzzah? LOL I mean, y'all, I love me some Spander, but it's one of those pairings you adore despite the absolute dearth of canon ANYTHING not because of it. The Tom/Harry subtext is so um textual. They are each other's prison bitch. IN CANON. And yet, you have to scour the web to find any while Tom/Chakotay threatens to come alive like V'yger and consume the whole universe. LOL These stories rock even harder for the pairing's rarity. The first series is probably my favorite.

This vid celebrates cheerleading in a variety of sources including Buffy. I love the 80s retro chic, all the hints of Robert Palmer. This is doing something cool that I don't have the words to talk about.

What if the characters in Sucker Punch were actually Disney Princesses? This is an editing feat. I think it's pretty much straight up the audio of the for reals trailer with Disney Princess scenes over it. It looks like the characters are actually saying the lines. It's one of those, "OMG, how did ze *do* that?" things.

Like everything else Talitha does, this vid is fantastic. It makes me laugh and tear up in equal measures, just like the movie.
