SGA Diner AU by Kisahawklin; McShep; Adult; long
What if John Sheppard was a short order cook at a diner owned by inimitable Jack O'Neill, and Rodney McKay was a college professor who felt compelled to teach John how to cook the perfect egg? Sweet and light-hearted with guest appearances from just about everybody.
Souvenirs and Lost Luggage by girl_tarte; HP; Petunia-centric gen; PG; medium
I absolutely love stories that take a peripheral character, especially one who is so unsympathetic, and give that character life beyond the caricature. So many characters in the HP series remain canonically flat and one-dimensional. I like this opportunity an older Petunia takes to grow and change and make some difficult decisions about who she wants to be.
Unity by Lauren; HP; Scorpius/Albus Severus; PG; medium
I like this look at the children of the Trio plus the Malfoy spawn. I especially like the way that their parents' misconceptions and prejudices persist into adulthood. The children are fascinating to read about in their own right, but I very much like the little glimpses of the adults through their eyes.
After the End by secondsilk; HP; Neville/Harry; PG-13; short
This is about people after the war trying to figure out how to deal with what they've done and seen and lost and who they are now that it's all over. This takes place over a very short amount of time directly after Voldemort's defeat and seems just the right amount of weary and resigned and hopeful to me.
Unnatural Selection by RaeWhit; HP; Harry/Neville, Harry/Snape; Adult; long; mpreg
This is a twisty little story. Voldemort is defeated, but the Death Eaters still take over in a move of bureaucratic genius. Harry and Neville are given to Snape for "rehabilitation," and what follows after is a mixture of the well-worn features of this trope and some truly surprising turns. Good read.
Roses Are Red--A Tragedy in 5 Acts by Cluegirl; HP; Bellatrix/Rodolphus, Bellatrix/Voldemort, Draco/Neville implied; Adult; short
This is a very clever fic--beautifully written with suspense and horror--that gives Neville the perfect revenge on the woman who ruined the life of his parents.
