1. I've seen a meme. I want to meme! I haven't talked to y'all in forever. :) Meme goes something like--pick a pair of characters from one of my fandoms, and I'll tell you why I do or do not ship it. Since I pretty much ship everything, my answers will probably be more along the lines of, "This is how I see this pairing working." This is not a call for me to defend the most reedonkulus pairings ever or is it? .

2. We have decided to call Fiona's pacifier "Gibbs." LOL Every morning I tell her, "Let's see what Gibbs is doing," and then we are so sad when Jethro is not on the TV. So now, Feefers (yes, I know; *hangs head*; we do nicknames wrong around here) always has her Gibbs.

3. I have awesome friends! Thanks to lyrstzha and kaleecat for the birthday cards. Y'all are so sweet. I can't remember if I thanked executrix or not for the wonderful package she sent with the most amazing lip balm and the cutest little outfit for Fiona; if so, many thanks again, and if not, thanks for the first time. I also got a package from henrycat with some books on loan, the cutest little sweater for Fiona, and some candy from Japan. Emma has already dubbed the candy a success. :)

4. Have some NCIS recs!

When I started getting into this show, ariadne83 warned me that the fandom was full of woobie!Tony who's the victim of all sorts of rapery and abuse. Naturally, I immediately went looking for such fic. LOL

Ziva-centric (I would call this gen, but there is a sexual encounter between Tony and Ziva as well as mentions of past Ziva/Jenny; it's certainly not shippy)
XOVER with SGA
Oh, man. This is fantastic. I love this look at Ziva as Agent Afloat on Atlantis in the aftermath of Jenny Sheppard's death. I would read story after story set in this 'verse.

I really like Ana's take on Simon/Jayne in that fic of hers where Simon figures out that Jayne sold them out on Ariel and starts a relationship with Jayne in order to protect himself and River. It's got just the right amount of angst and hopelessness to it for me. LOL

I have a hard time believing in a Jayne and Simon that fall in love with each other. I can buy they come to mutually respect each other, and I can buy that they sleep together, but I can't see them in a romantic relationship. They're just too far apart intellectually for them to function in that way, I think. I like the idea of them as fuck buddies, though. Or having to masquerade as being together for job (and then being surprised at how hot the masquerade is). Or coming together because they're the only survivors of Serenity or in some other dystopic future.

Along with that one (it's Assessment; I had to look up the title), I'd put Mosca's Like Describing the Alphabet and Camp as a Row of Little Pink Tents, llembas's untitled heist fic, Righteousness by Lyrstzha, and pretty much everything Exec has written for the fandom but especially Decor and So Like Fear.

Talk to me about Jaime & Cersei!

I love that Jaime is present for the birth of his children in contrast to Robert (and I think we are supposed to extrapolate from his behavior that the other noblemen of Westeros do not normally attend the birthing bed). I wonder a lot about Jaime as a parent, though. Cersei we see parenting, and it's clearly very ineffective. But Jaime's around a lot before he goes off to war and gets captured by the Starks; he has to have contributed to his son's makeup at least to some degree. I have to wonder how he'd feel about Joffrey's behavior since he's been off the scene (or Cersei's for that matter; I wonder if they mostly make decisions together and that's why Cersei seems so rudderless throughout and why she makes so many questionable decisions).

Their relationship reminds me more than a little of Cathy/Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights. Cathy has this obliviating love for Heathcliff; she says, "Nelly, I *am* Heathcliff." Their incredibly dysfunctional love blurs the boundaries of self-hood between them. In the same way, Cersei clearly sees Jaime as a mirror of herself, as a kind of doppelganger, and therein lies the tragedy of her life: that she lacks the kind of opportunities that Jaime is afforded because he's a dude.

I wonder if they both would have grown up to be better people (as well as Joffrey) if they had been Targaryens and their relationship not a secret. The secrecy can't be healthy.

Also, Jaime/Brienne forever! LOL

I'm with you in that Jaime's role in parenting the kids is the part of the relationship I most wonder about. (Also why I'm so excited that season 3 chose the endpoint that it did.)

Mal and Jayne

My feelings on Mal/Jayne can be summed up by Mosca's Like Describing the Alphabet. I love that fic so hard; it's such a great take on their relationship.

I think that Jayne will probably always be a bit of an idiot and that he can Mal will butt heads--it's always hard dating within the command structure (see Jack/Daniel LOL). I think that if you can earn it, and Mal does, Jayne's loyalty would be absolute. And I think Mal can respect a Jayne who feels himself to be part of the family and holds crew as inviolable.

I think their relationships would be super dude like without a lot of romance but a lot of the "I'd take a bullet for you" and "I'd share my expensive box of radishes with out" overtures of affection. LOL
