Episode 2

Steve and Dustin's utter glee at their reunion makes me so very happy.

Max and El being BFF is everything I've ever wanted from this show. Wow. They are doing this in the best way possible. They are being silly girls, but Max is also really wise and sweet, and they are having so much fun together. Oh, my heart. Max gives her the best advice for figuring out who she is and what she wants rather than relying on other people's definitions of who she should be. The breakup is definitely melodramatic and pre-teeny and I suspect it won't last, but I like to see El making choices and figuring out what she really wants. Lying is a really big deal to her (and, of course, later she'll have to acknowledge that spying is a pretty big deal, too, and that she's not innocent either).

The Glamour Shots, OMG. So many of my friends got those, but I never did. I was so jealous, even though now I realize they all looked like tiny versions of Dolly Parton, and I dodged a bullet (all hail the Dolly who is Queen, but she's about the only person who can pull that look off; twelve year olds better not even try).

Joyce continues to be fucking awesome. I love that her response to the magnets not working is to check out a shit ton of books from the library (remember when we had to do that, y'all? raid the parents' encyclopedia Brittanica in hopes of some info? man, I love the internet) and then go ask the science teacher. My heart breaks for Hopper at being stood up, though. :(

I really like Mrs. Driscoll. I hate that she's wearing a red muumuu. :(

Robin is so awesome. I love that she can translate the message, and I love that Steve figures out that the message is coming from inside the mall by recognizing the music.

And there's a horrible monster. Naturally.

Episode 3

Ralph Macchio. *dreamy sigh* I 100% had some daydreams re: waxing on and off that guy circa 1990.

The spying scenes are really funny; I love that the guys are sitting around burping and farting.

I feel so bad for Will. I mean, he spent two years of his life either in a hell dimension or possessed. That's two years all his friends were becoming badasses, and he was stuck in stasis. I don't mean to imply that Will wasn't brave or strong or resourceful during those years because he was, but it's not the same. He wants a do-over of what he missed, and that's just not possible. :(

I am loving the Joyce/Hopper show--every single second of them acting like Sam and Diane or Dave and Maddie fills me with utter glee. The way Hopper is just done with it all, with everything, amuses the shit out of me. This better end with something to feed my shipper's heart. I love when Hopper tells Joyce that she will never find people who understand what she's gone through somewhere else and that if she moves, she's moving away from her support system.

I love that Dustin is wise enough to see that Steve and Robin would be a great match. I love that she not only figures out the translation of the Russian but cracks the code.

No spoilers past episode 6 please. We're saving 7-8 to watch back to back. :)
