It's Saturday, and I'm digging it!

1. My computer is fixed! I am so happy. Everything is right with the world! *relieved*

2. We've been watching the third season of Penny Dreadful, and I'm mostly enjoying it. Really nice to see Brent Spiner onscreen again. Very much enjoying Nathan Lane's character; his performance is outstanding. Also really enjoying the character of Molly. She's an evangelical con artist, and she owns that, but she also believes in the power of kindness and faith, and she's trapped by her capitalist mother into her role as Sister Molly. She is a deeply intriguing character.

Also super loving Natalie Dormer playing like six different characters that are all extremely different from each other, including physically. She is an excellent actor.

Of course, the last episode we watched took an extremely upsetting turn into graphically depicted child harm with a side of sexual assault, so my enthusiasm for the show has waned a bit. Hopefully, the next episode will reignite it.

3. Fiona and Emma painted a bird feeder ages ago, and we put it up last week outside Fiona's window. Endless delight for Fi. Little does she know she's getting two more bird feeders from Josh's parents for her birthday this week. She is going to lose her little seven year old mind. LOL

4. I have finished testing my whole BPAL stash, and review post is forthcoming. I've got a lot of samples to move out the door, and I'd prefer to just mail it all to one person free of charge. I'd rather give first dibs to the flist before I post to smellsgood. Anybody interested? I've got:

It's on Showtime. I absolutely loved season one, liked season two less while still liking it, and loathed the season two finale along with the rest of the planet.

Season 3 is a complete reboot with all different characters set in America instead of England and moved to 1938 instead of 19th century.

I barely made it through season 2 of Penny Dreadful -- it's just too graphic for me. I wanted it to be more fun and less horror. I loved Eva Green, though -- is she still in it?

I was wrong about there only being two seasons in the original run; there were three, and the third season is the one where it lost me. I really hated the series finale.

This season 4 is a complete reboot; all new characters, settings, and time period. No Eva Green. :( But Natalie Dormer is pretty awesome too.

The original Penny Dreadful had three seasons. City of Angels would be season 4. I can't justify paying for Showtime but I'm hoping to catch up when the cable company gives us one of those free weekends. Not nearly as interested in 1930s LA, though.

Oh you are right. *headdesk* I hated the series finale so much that it distorted my memories. LOL

You know, I thought the same thing, and then it has ended up being fascinating to me. The first episode drags to me, and I wasn't sure I'd like it, but then it picks up, and I was totally digging it until the last episode we watched. To be fair, both the child harm and the sexual assault seem to me to belong to the story, but it was still upsetting.

The show is very topical because it's all about racism and police violence.

I confess that by the end I was mostly watching for Rory Kinnear's Creature. Being the Frankenstein . . . not quite scholar, as I haven't published on it, but teach it and have presented on it . . . that I am. It's so clear that ending was just shoehorned in, and it seems to me that the new characters were introduced so they could do a final season without Eva Green (who maybe thought the Miss Peregrine's franchise was going to take off?), and then something happened and it just fell flat.

Fair enough. Maybe I'll buy the DVDs (if there still is such a thing) when they come out, or binge it at a friends when I'm allowed to have those in 3D again. Speaking of current issues reflected on TV, it's also really exciting seeing people on my FB feed praising Watchmen (the HBO version) which I have loved since it first aired.

My issue with the ending is that previous two seasons seem to be arguing that Eva Green's character isn't destined for anything and can make her own way and choose to do what's right, only for that to be overwritten with an ending in which she has no choice. It completely destroyed what came before. So stupid.

Rory Kinnear is in the LA one playing a very different character.

I haven't seen the Watchmen series although I did see the movie ages ago. I think Josh may have watched the series. I know he's read the comics.

Fiona is super into the birds right now. It's deeply adorable. I like watching them too.

I'd rather someone else get to enjoy the perfume than it just sitting on my dresser. I'm not going to wear it, so I hope someone else will love it.

Glad you got your laptop back! And happy early birthday to Fiona! I'm sure she'll love the feeders. Be careful setting out too many though, I had to stop feeding the birds at my old place. I couldn't afford the five pounds of seed a day those flying pigs would go through. LOL.

Me tooooooo! It's good to be back.

Fiona just loves the birds. She's gotten good at identifying them, and we live in a bird lover's paradise. From owls to hawks to woodpeckers to the more mundane birds, there's just a plethora of them to watch all day every day.
