Awwww, kitteh! He's very cute.
If he's been in a shelter, unfortunately a lot of cats come out of shelters with a bit of upper-respiratory something-or-other. All those cats together, all pee, all the dust, all the stress. I'm sure he's just got a kitty-cold/mild infection kind of thing that'll clear up in no time.

Most cats have awful, awful breath (carnivores), but it's good to get it checked, anyway, in case he's got a bad tooth. Cats can be a gigantic pain (I'm looking at you, Oliver, and your habit of puking on my bed), but also they are just...the bestest, snuggliest, most wonderful little furballs ever. :D
