1. Thank you all for your well wishes re: the med change. I am now completely off the Topamax and on the final dosage level of Depakote. I can tell it's going to be a tradeoff. I hurt a lot more on the Depakote, and my sleep is disordered; I think the Topamax was zonking me out at night (the time of day when I took it) and helping me sleep more soundly. Also having lots and lots of bizarre dreams. But this med being much less soporific is also a good thing; I am not as tired during the day. And while it's hard to tell from inside the experience because it's happening gradually, I think the brain fog is lifting. I think I feel more clear-headed. I am still in the adjustment period, so I have hope that my sleep will eventually even out. Now I just have to cross my fingers that my liver and kidneys aren't being affected when I get my blood drawn at the end of this month, and I'll be good to go.

2. Poor Fiona. She's at the very beginning of puberty, and it is hitting her so hard. She is very emotional and clingy. She wants to cuddle with me and lay all over me and plaster herself to me like a barnacle. It's very, very sweet, and she's driving me kind of bonkers. What a terrible problem to have, right? That my child wants to snuggle with me too much. LOL Mostly, it just hurts after awhile because I have skin sensitivity/pain; sometimes the seams of my clothes hurt me or the weight of one leg touching another. Oh, well. I shall survive this love fest. *g*

3. Update on curly hair journey: I am pretty satisfied with my routine at this moment. I continue to try new products, but I've figured out the basics that will work for me.

I have fine and thin hair, so a lot of the advice/tips for curly hair doesn't apply to my hair texture, and it took me a long time to figure that out. I was using all these creams and moisturizing ingredients and leave-in conditioners and not getting the results I wanted. Thin hair is really easily weighed down, so I have to be sure not to use a heavy conditioner. Right now, I'm using Innersense Pure Inspiration. (Note: it says it has fragrance notes of jasmine, but I despise jasmine and detect none; this has very little fragrance to me.) I use a heavy conditioner on the wash days where I don't care what my curls look like.

Fine/thin curly hair also needs to be washed a lot more frequently than is often recommended for curly hair because it gets weighed down by product. I especially have this problem because my curl clumps are smaller, and my curls become very stringy the longer I go without washing. Routinely clarifying is also really important for me; I don't do it too often because I color my hair and don't want to strip the color, but my curls look so fantastic after I clarify my hair. I use Sunday Shampoo by Bumble and Bumble or Olaplex 4C.

For heat protection, I use either Olaplex Volumizing Blow Dry Mist or Olaplex No.9.

For styling, so far the best product I've used has been Herbal Essences Curl Boosting Mousse--great hold, shine, and frizz control.

Finally, because my hair is thin, I really struggle with volume. I've used these two texturing sprays, and like them both with caveats. I think the Living Proof version is superior, but my refresh routine involves wetting my hair because my curls just don't hold up overnight even though I sleep in protective hairstyles. When I rewet my hair after using this one, it's a sticky mess, and my curls are super stringy. The Bumble and Bumble version holds up to rewetting without making my hair a mess.

Tell me about your hair routine and favorite products--any hair texture welcome.
