First off, The Office rocked! Like a rocking thing, although I thought the ep was too long. Let's keep it to thirty minutes, people; it's a heckuva lot funnier that way.
All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2
This is gonna be all kinds of incoherent and flaily cause I am so full of SPN squee that I can barely form sentences.
Let's just go by character shall we:
Dean--my holy freaking god. Jensen Ackles deserves an Emmy for this ep alone. Thank goodness he's being promoted for a nomination. LOL I love the way he bites Bobby's head off and then can't let him leave without apologizing. I love the way his voice breaks when he says, "I had one job and I screwed it up," to Sam's corpse. I love the way he grabs that crossroads demon and kisses the holy fuck out of her. I think I shredded Lisa's couch with my fingernails at that point. I love the way he tries to hide what he's done from Sam. I love love love that Dean is the one that gets to kill the Yellow-Eyed Demon. I love that he knows exactly what to say to the son of a bitch once he's dead. I love that little smile on his face at the end. Pretty much I just love Dean.
Sam--oh, Sammy. Oh, oh Sammy. The way you tear up when you learn that Ash is dead and Ellen probably is, too. The way you are essentially the sexiest thing alive when you're shooting Jake eleventy million times. The way Dean can't keep a secret from you for twenty four hours; as someone once said, you are pretty quick on the uptake *g*. The way you let Dean know in no uncertain terms that you are not letting him die; that you would sacrifice for him everything he's sacrificed for you; that he's not the only one trying to keep your family together and alive. Also, I pretty much just love Sam.
John--Of course, John clawed his way out of hell. And of course he did it to save his son. Of course. See icon. *bawls* (I'm tempted to take a picture of myself weeping. LOL) And now he gets to go to heaven! *escalates into joyful sobbing*
Bobby--How much do I love the scene in the junkyard when Bobby does virtually everything but tell Dean, "I'm your surrogate daddy, you jackass, and I love you and what the hell have you done?" I think I heart that moment of the episode the most.
Ellen--God, she looks so fragile when she shows up and that hug (I'm sensing fic germinating at this very moment) and then the way she and Bobby just handle things in the graveyard. She is such a strong character. So glad she's not dead.
Now for plot: In short, Rock on, Eric Kripke. I can't believe Kripke pulled it off; he made the whole special kids/demon army thing make sense and be utterly cool at the same time. Samuel Colt's pentagram of doom? OMG! So cool. The Colt as a key? Again, awesome.
On the music front, we're back to the music video intros which I have sorely, sorely missed. I kinda wish it had been a song they hadn't used before, but bygones. It still rocked. Finally, on the way home, I heard Carrie Underwood's cover of "I'll Stand By You" and if somebody doesn't make an ABLP2 vid to that song, then the demons will have won! Won I say!
What's in store for the future? Well, let's see:
1. Loose ends from the YED: How did Mary know him? Just what did those prior generations of special kids accomplish? Will the special kids' powers disappear or change in some way now that he's gone?
2. Did Sam come back wrong?
3. Saving Dean from his crossroads deal
4. Killing everything that came out of the Hellmouth
All in all, I'd say next season is shaping up to be a helluva ride. :)
