Have some perfume reviews!
Al-Shairan: His scent is fiery, bright and thick with sweet sinfulness: clove, peach and orange with cinnamon, patchouli and dark incense notes.
Emma did not like this one, nor did I. The cinnamon is at the fore of this on me; from far away, it just smells like that one note. As I get closer to my wrist, it smells harsh and astringent with a powdery note underneath that reminds me a bit of the Guerlinade accord.
Ravenous: An utterly feral, thoroughly rousing perfume. Red patchouli sweetened by orange blossom.
Emma initially likes this one. The orange blossom is very prominent at first; as that fades and the patchouli starts to dominate, she likes it less. I like this one and like it more the longer I wear it. It smells a bit like an Orange Julius. The patchouli tempers that sweetness as does an aquatic note.
The Witch's Garden: Morning glory vines twisting around a patch of rampion, carrot, and parsley, with monkshood, hemlock, elfwort, sage, wormwood, and mandrake.
Emma, Josh and I agree that this one is too sweet. Emma finds the sage and garlic predominant while I can detect other notes: sage, parsley, green, earthy, damp garden. This smells very similar to Druid.
Good: Shimmering celestial musk with vanilla, white honey, acacia, and sugar cane.
Josh says Good makes him sick which seems apt. LOL It smells like honey and vanilla on Emma and smells stronger on her than me. This is not a keeper for obvious reasons.
Snake Oil: By far, our most popular scent! Magnetic, mysterious, and exceedingly sexual in nature. A blend of exotic Indonesian oils sugared with vanilla.
I really expected to like this given its popularity, but I don't. Emma likes it; she thinks it smells like vanilla and coffee, and it's sweeter on her than on me. I just smell almond and vanilla. Nothing special.
Bewitched: Deep, luscious green and berry scents that evoke images of woodland witchcraft and the raw power of nature: blackberry, sage, green tea, wild berries and dark musk.
Josh hates this one, but Emma and I both like it. It smells like green tea, sage, berries, just sweet enough. It is reminiscent of Bath and Body Works Sun-Ripened Raspberry in a good way.
Comme des Garcons Black: According to Fragrantica, Top notes are black pepper, incense and olibanum; middle notes are leather, licorice, birch and pepperwood or hercules club; base notes are cedar and vetiver.
I love this perfume. It does not smell of licorice at all on me, thank goodness. Most things with an anise or licorice note just go all black jelly beans on me. Black smells like pepper, cedar, salt, vetiver, and leather on me. I wish it was a little more long lasting, but it smells so good while it lasts: warm and spicy and utterly sexy.
