Some recs and a lament

They're doing the funniest thing in fanthropology right now. Drabbles about a fandom issue, which sounds dry and boring but is really heeeelarious. Read them HERE. And then write some of your own. Cause you guys make with the funnies all the time. If I can force some cleverness I might do one. (I'm thinking you, suki_blue, with all your hilarity). Heeeee..... ETA: I did one. Not a good one, but I did one. *snort*

And now for the lamenty portion of this broadcast. You know how you know something but you don't *really* know it until it bites you in the ass? Well, I've been steadily gaining weight since I was a sophomore in college. I mean, in highschool, they used to call me Titanic, but that was always followed by Tits and not Neck Waddle. I knew I should be concerned about my weight, but it was so easy just to not give a shit. Well, I went to the MD today for a sinus infection. And guess what? My blood pressure is HIGH. And not from looking at velvet_virago's pictures. So, Lorraine has to lose weight. The doc says fifty pounds, which is pretty much exactly the amount I've gained. Maybe now that someone has told me I'm on the road to seriously screwing my health up, I'll actually do something about it.

Hijak away! You're more than welcome. I really need to. My health's okay, but it's a clothes thing and I hate to shop. :) And go you on quitting smoking!! I'm open to any ideas on how people would like do it - either starting a journal or just friending and using a filter.

Since we were talking about doing something about our physical condition, here's a quick update for you and Luna - I don't know if y'all already know about this, but there's a group called fanaticize that holds monthly activity contests. It's fandom, but I'm not sure how that works in... They're taking sign ups for September now.

Ooooooooh......dilemma time. LOL I have it flocked, 'cause I just wasn't interested in dealing with anybody that might be condemny about the subject matter. But ya know, I'm really proud of it, and I don't think anybody's gonna be ugly to me about it. And if they are, I'll just kick 'em in the nuts. I'll go unlock that, then.

If they're ugly to you, I'll kick 'em too. I don't think this person will be, though...and I think I gave a sufficient warning to keep any angry folks at bay. Seriously, though. It was a wonderful piece, heartbreaking in a way that had my hubby terrified (I don't cry like that - EVER), and others should read it. But if you have any trouble from it, you have my humblest apologies. *hug*

I'm so touched that that piece affected you so strongly. That is seriously the best thing an author can ever hear, and since the subject matter is one that I feel so strongly about, it especially touches me.

Thanks for the heads up. But I'm kinda glad; this gave me the impetus to stop hiding the fic, ya know?
