I really wanted to highlight that Matt is willing to take risks, to put himself out there emotionally, and McClane should be too given the way he thumbs his nose in the face of every physical danger known to man. But he's not. And it's so sad. But that's another kind of courage entirely. At first I was going to end it very differently, with them having this really fucked up clandestine thing that eats away at both their souls but I ran out of steam. LOL
