Between the Lines by [livejournal.com profile] friendshipper; John and Rodney-centric gen; PG
I love smut, yes I do. I love kink and porn and the sexy. A lot. But for some characters in some shows (and SGA and SG-1 lead the pack for me in this, probably because the Team dynamic is so important to each), there is a depth to relationships that transcends, that supercedes anything sexual. [livejournal.com profile] friendshipper excels at, well, friendshipping. If I am so inclined, I can easily believe that this Rodney and this John might one day sleep together even if they aren't now. But that's Not Important. What is important is that their connection is bone deep, is vital, is necessary. I love this fic. This is like the best love letter to John and Rodney ever and they don't even lay a hand on each other.

the one where aliens make Rodney do it with everyone but John by [livejournal.com profile] sardonicsmiley; McShep and Rodney/Everybody LOL; Adult
This story is a glorious exercise in controlled heat. It is such a pleasure to watch John grow ever-increasingly jealous and frustrated as Rodney gets it on with half the galaxy. The opening scene with Rodney kissing a woman as part of a ceremony is made of Epic Win.

All the Things Rodney Never Was by [livejournal.com profile] sardonicsmiley; John/Rodney; Adult
My love for this story cannot be textually rendered. It is in many ways a character study of Rodney; we watch him grow into a leadership role born of the most extreme and heartbreaking circumstances and it is so well done. I especially love the way that as Rodney changes, the way that others react to him changes as well. This appears as if it will be a fic of unremitting despair, but there is a light at the end of this tunnel. And it has crazy hair.

Waiting For You (on the other side)M by [livejournal.com profile] soft_princess; Beckett/Lorne; Adult
This is not a pairing I often run across, but this writer really makes the relationship work. After "Sunday," Lorne starts dreaming of Carson and slowly realizes that they aren't dreams. There's a fantastically wonderful and bittersweet scene with Rodney talking to empty air and y'all. Even if this pairing doesn't interest you, this is a damn good story.
