I met [livejournal.com profile] cathexys through [livejournal.com profile] executrix who said something along the lines of, "You two live pretty close to each other and I bet you'd get along." (I think this is also, incidentally, the way I met [livejournal.com profile] thelastgoodname, minus the living near each other part.) As usual, Exec was right. Although [livejournal.com profile] cathexys and I have never met in RL, we've talked on the phone quite a bit and we do get along quite well. LOL [livejournal.com profile] cathexys is responsible for my entre into SGA fandom; she enabled me with copies of the second and third seasons and got me started reading in the fandom with her reclist, and OMG the vids!!! I never really watched vids at all until [livejournal.com profile] cathexys showed me how cool they can be. So I owe her a debt of gratitude for introducing me to the fandom that I now love so much. I also thank her for showing me the many faces of meta; not only does she write meta herself, but she also helps to create space for others to meta and she is an inveterate linker. I usually find the good stuff through her.

[livejournal.com profile] chocgood84 was one of the first people I met in fandom, back when I was All Spander All the Time. Brad is such a dear heart and we hit it off instantly, so well in fact that we went on to create [livejournal.com profile] club_joss, the fannish endeavor of which I am probably the most proud. We were newbie mods; we made mistakes; we made that comm a lot more work for ourselves than it should have been (one of the factors that I think led to its dissolution). But the fact remains that we were doing something fun and interesting and vital for the Jossverse fandom and I had so much fun running that comm with Brad. Brad has talked me through many an existential crisis and he has been a shoulder for me to lean on when I was down. We don't talk as much anymore because Brad's interests and work have led him away from fandom, but I miss him and I love him and I will always be thankful for his friendship.

I can't help but grin every damn time I think of [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue. We're both Southern gals and we share that love of a culture that is such a mix of beautiful tradition and trashiness. LOL Why, yes, my manners will be impeccable while I'm drinking Miller High Life from a Dixie Cup on the tailgate of your Ford. :) Sue is also one of the funniest people I have ever met. Her fic is funny, her meta is funny, her ruminations on the election or on what cereal to buy are funny. She's a new mom and has been recently posting about the travails of motherhood to much hilarity, but alas most of those posts are locked. Honestly, I think her posts are as funny and engaging, with the same lovely mixture of humor and pathos, as David Sedaris's essays. I can't wait to say I knew her when. I have actually met Sue in RL and I can say that she is as sweet and gracious and funny and CRAZYSMART in person as she is online. My fondest wish would be to get her writing fanfic again. *hint hint hint* :) I mean, come on. Read this and tell me you don't want this woman writing in your fandom. :)
