emella is pretty much made entirely of awesome--all the shininess in the world concentrated in one pretty spectacular girl. Ems is an artist: See her versions of
Stephen Colbert and
Jack Nicholson. And she is fucking amazing in this endeavor. Not to sound too much like the Mom that I am (ha!), but I met Ems when she was in high school and watching her grow up and go to school and follow her dreams and achiever her goals--well, it's been a heck of a fun ride for me. One of my most fun fannish experiences was co-writing with Ems
umad67, Dawn's lj that was to serve as a backstory for the Spike/Xander/Angel mpreg we never finished. We never finished the story, but that journal was a bunch of fun, y'all, and made all the more so because of Emella. I think we really captured Dawn's voice and the comments on each post are as important to the story as the main entry. Good times.
executrix is the most intelligent, funny, witty, generous and all around awesome person I have ever had the privilege to share breathing space with. This is not an exaggeration. The Preservers broke the mold with this lady. I owe my B7 fannishness to her and my HLOTS love and the fact that I even know The Wire exists. She is the author of one of the most wonderful essays on fandom that I've ever read ("Reading Between the Loins") which sadly appears NOWHERE online but is published in
The Democratic Genre. She is the inveterate maker of amazing icons; just check out my userpics. She makes the best packages ever; thanks to her I am clothed and fed and currently reading the third volume of
Coldfire (Damien, thank god you have no desire to lose your BFF because Tarrant totally wants to do you. FYI.). But I probably associate Exec most with two things: a love of food and a propensity to include that love in her fic and Firefly. Her
Big Sky Country remains one of my favorite pieces in the fandom, as well as her fics that offer
excellent insights into the Buffyverse (Faith/Giles in this particular instance). Exec is one of my dearest friends, online and off, and I can't imagine all this without her.
friendshipper is someone I've only met recently online but whose fic I've enjoyed for quite some time. Her
Old Soldiers Die Hard remains one of my favorite pieces in the fandom. As much as I love McShep and all its permutations (aliens made them do it or John pursues Rodney or Rodney gets jealous of Chaya and jumps John's bones or whatever--love it), I really think that a deep and abiding friendship is at the core of any sexual relationship they might ever have and
friendshipper does an excellent job of portraying that fraternal bond. And I very very strongly believe that
Between the Lines is one of the finest things I've read in any fandom. In addition to being a fabulous writer,
friendshipper is also someone to whom I owe a debt of gratitude in regards to
sga_talk; as a direct result of her influence, we have a lot more fic to discuss and a lot more fans interested in doing so. Thanks.
frollo is someone I've known online for quite a while. We met while he was working on his dissertation on the Buffyverse; I was very honored to be of beta help in that endeavor. Although
frollo is not online with much frequency anymore, I am very glad to have been a part of his life and wish him nothing but success and happiness.
