The Secret Life of Scientists by Julad Rodney/various slash and het Adult This is a really wonderful piece; it's written in such a way that we are given only the barest skeleton of season one--little flashes of what is happening in the foreground that likely would not make sense to anyone unfamiliar with the episodes. The fic focuses instead on these moments in the background, the nuts and bolts and day to day. It's a very insightful look into the dynamics of the science department; there's some shockers here. At one particular point, I went, "Oh, yeah. Why haven't they done that on the show, cause that makes sense. Horrible, horrible sense." Great read. Radek Zelenka also turned out to be same person as Yebanat Prezrennyj, as the Russians called him. Rodney supposed he should have realised that the inventor of dual gamma-reflex conduits hadn't been named Fuckhead Traitor by his parents, but had in fact earned the name after stealing the highly classified method for polarising gamma radiation and selling it to the Americans in exchange for an extremely well-funded research laboratory in San Francisco.

I would summarize this fic in this way: Radek is, after all, a genius; I mean, surely he notices what's going on right under his nose. The voices in this piece are excellent! This is sweet and just the right amount of sappy. And yeah. *happy sigh*
Two Weeks by Thegrrl and Mmmchelle Sheppard/McKay Adult Now that they've only two weeks left until the Wraith arrive at Atlantis, what will John and Rodney decide to do with the time? I love the way this fic takes us from "Brotherhood" through the first part of the season finale, showcasing both the main action in canon and the stolen moments that John and Rodney take in between. There is a sense of urgency and fear and fragility in this fic that's really lovely to read.
