What are your thoughts on choosing a color scheme for a home?
The house we are looking at is half open floor plan and then half rooms off a long hallway.
I have seen varying advice. A lot of what I'm reading has suggested that you should pick a handful of colors and repeat them throughout the house. Or coordinate all the colors in some way. I've also seen pictures of houses where the rooms were all different colors and it looked fine to me.
I've read that I should choose room colors based on the furniture that will go in a room or the fabric or a piece of artwork.
Well, here's the thing. Other than our unpainted wooden furniture, all our furniture is shitty hand-me-downs that we are slowly replacing and will have hopefully finished doing so in the next five years. We have no curtains. We have no awesome bed linens I'd like to build a room concept around.
We do have some very nice artwork, mostly in varying shades of white, black, grey, and sepia, with a little red mixed in.
The task of choosing colors feels very confusing to me because it feels like we don't have anything to base a color scheme on other than what colors we like. And there's a lot of colors. LOL
IDK what do y'all think?
