So, now that I've got this crossposting thing set up, I think I feel a bit ambivalent about it. Bear with me all of you who figured out how to wrangle DW and LJ a long time ago. :)

Apparently, if you delete an entry on DW that you crossposted somewhere else, it automatically deletes the entry on the other site, which I don't think I like.

And I realize I imported my LJ stupidly. I should have upgraded to a paid acount and *then* imported so that all my icons would be imported to DW. Now, I'll have to add each icon manually once I upgrade, but if I really want DW to be a backup of my LJ, that's what I'll need to do. I wonder; if the icon exists on each account, does the crosspost show the icon selected or does it always just show the default?

I also don't know what to do about commenting. I've noticed that you guys do a variety of stuff: comment on both sites, comment only on LJ, comment only on DW. If I want DW to preserve what I'm doing in case LJ goes kablooey, it only makes sense to either have comments only on DW or on both posts. Opinions?

Anything else I should know about using both journaling platforms? Advice? Remember, technology is not necessarily intuitive for Lorraine. :)

I believe you can (if LJ's functioning okay) run the importer regularly and it'll synch the two accounts by importing the new comments left on the LJ entries.

getting_started is a good comm for this sort of stuff; I'm fairly hazy when it comes to any technical details but you'll find plenty of people there who can walk you through anything you want to do.

You should be able to just re-import once you upgrade. It doesn't duplicate when you re-import, it just adds the new stuff. So it should just add the new icons.

You should be able to delete just the DW entry if you uncheck the "crosspost" box? :)
