1. I have hit the 20 lb mark! 20 lbs in 2 months is more than I ever could have hoped for! I am so excited and proud of myself. I didn't exercise at all the first month and started exercising again in the second month. I've been going 6-7 days a week. Every exercise session, I make sure I burn 400 calories according to the reckoning of the machines. Sometimes I do weights; sometimes I don't. I find exercising really, really boring, and it's a struggle for me to do it, so sometimes I just don't want to hang around for another 15-30 minutes to do weights. My stamina has increased since the beginning of the month; I noticed today that the 400 calorie workout that had me struggling and sweating like a stuck pig last week was noticeably easier. I think I am soon going to have to up that calorie goal to 500 or risk plateauing.
I remain astonished that I am not struggling with changing the way I eat. I attribute that a great deal to the celiac. Going gluten free did not help me lose any weight. I ate gluten free for two months and didn't lose a pound. However, going gluten free was a radical life change that allowed me to make other radical life changes. For the first month, I religiously wrote down everything I ate and paid really close attention to the amount of calories in everything. I also relied really heavily that first month on cans of soup and frozen meals so that I could know and control how many calories I was eating exactly. Now, I don't do either of those things because I have a general sense of the calorie count of what I'm eating and how much of it I want to eat.
What I'm doing is drinking a baby Coke zero in the morning. (I had been drinking a protein shake for breakfast, but I've stopped doing that. I have always hated eating breakfast, but I was worried that reducing calories would make me hungry in the morning so I started drinking them. I'm okay without them, so I've stopped that.) Then I eat lunch which might be leftovers from the night before or a salad with some protein. I usually eat two or three squares of really nice dark chocolate, too. Some time in the afternoon before 4, I have a cup of hot, caffeinated tea with milk and sugar. For dinner, I eat whatever we would usually make for dinner although I don't eat more than one plate of it (okay, I did eat two bowls of stew last week because it was freaking boss and because it didn't have any potatoes in it). I have one or two snacks after dinner (Luigi's Italian Ice--100 calories, freezes super hard and takes me about thirty minutes to eat one cup, 1.98 for six cups; a baby bag of Skinny Girl popcorn in Lime flavor) and a cup of my hot, sleepy tea with sugar.
I feel really good. I'm sleeping better; I've continued going to bed before eleven every night, sometimes well before eleven, and I'm falling asleep more quickly and staying asleep for longer. I SLEPT SIX HOURS IN A ROW ONE NIGHT LAST WEEK. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES SINCE FIONA HAS BEEN BORN YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT A MILESTONE THAT IS OMG MY FRIENDS.
2. I don't think I mentioned that my missing period got found. I went eight weeks without a period and then I had a really, really horrible one to make up for the one I skipped. LOL
3. I am such a bad mod. I mailed off my letters for the Letter Writing Challenge today. *headdesk* They had to be postmarked today, so I shall not ban myself from future participation in my own challenge LOL but way to procrastinate, Lorraine. I had a lot of fun writing the letters, though, and got to use some cute stationery. I can't wait to start hearing from people as they receive their correspondence.
4. Gotta go sign up for Yuletide. I've got my requests down, but now I need to figure what I'm offering. Is there a way to tell what people have requested? I've been looking at the letters spreadsheet but not everybody writes a letter.
