lunabee341. Downton Abbey watch continues. I'm put out with the latest plot development. So, here's the thing. This was pretty much a fantastic episode. Jimmy hurt his wrist acting a fool. Molsley continues to suffer humorously and endearingly. Mary is coming out of her shell. Edith's man has endeared himself to Lord Grantham who got told off deliciously by Lady Grantham re: the opera singer. Isabelle is so sad, and I feel so horrible for her; that actor has been knocking it out of the park. I loved the Dowager reaching out to her and Tom comforting her. I do not like Edna Braithwaite, and I think she's big big trouble, but her kind of trouble makes an episode interesting
So, why, why, why, did such a perfect episode end with Anna being raped? I don't actually object to rape being a plot point in the show; it's just that the way the episode is constructed, it doesn't make any narrative sense. The guy rapes her violently in a way that really can't be hidden while everyone else is in the house and he's noticeably absent at the same time she is, and he has no escape route. He has no idea that she'll keep it secret or even be able to keep it secret. It makes no logical sense. If he'd caught her walking to the village or something like that, it would be more believable. I know that rapists aren't necessarily logical, but this guy wasn't drunk or in the heat of passion; it was a calculated move to assault her, and that he'd do so in such a way that would leave him very vulnerable to being caught doesn't make sense to me.
IDK why the showrunner thought Anna and Bates needed more drama. This is more than a little ridiculous. If people start thinking he hits her, I might have to rage quit.
Please tell me this gets better and is not dragged out over a million episodes. Feel free to spoil me on this plot point only, my friends.
2. Weight loss seems to have slowed down. I've lost 50 lbs at this point. I am super happy. I feel good. I look good. I didn't think I'd lose even 10 lbs so 50 is nothing short of a miracle to me. I think I may have hit where I'm going to stay; I've only lost 2 pounds this month. Now that I've made it this far, I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to make it to my high school weight, but I think for two babies and almost 40, weighing ten pounds more than what I did in high school is not bad at all.
I'd also forgotten what it's like to get hit on all the time. LOL I used to get a lot of attention that gradually diminished as I got older and weighed more. Well, it's steadily been racheting up as the weight has dropped off. I'm still in the flattered stage, but I imagine that won't last forever.
3. IC stuff is going well. I'm not really having any side effects from the Elmiron. I'm not having any flare ups. I feel pretty good. *crossing fingers*
4. Josh's colonoscopy/endoscopy is on Friday. I hope we find out what's wrong and don't need any more tests.
