1. I wrote a thing for one of the 100 words threads on meme, and people are commenting. Yay!

2. Anne Lamott is kinda getting on my nerves. Also, totes gotta finish reading it to be sure, but looks Julia Cameron did just straight up plagiarize Dorothea Brande for The Artist's Way.

3. We watched the second Ant Man movie.

I absolutely loved it. I love how endearing these movies are. They aren't Serious Angsty Business like the rest of the MCU franchise. Scott is a good, affable, endearing person. He's a kick ass dad who is involved in his kid's life. He has a good relationship with his ex-wife AND her new husband. In this movie, even the villains end up okay. Ghost gets healed and welcomed into the fold along with Dr. Foster. Nobody dies.

I love Luis. I love his Drunk History montages. I love everything with the X-Con business. I love the truth serum gag.

I think Paul Rudd does an excellent job channeling Janet. I wasn't spoiled for casting, so I totally thought Janet would be Hope's age, but I love Michelle Pfeiffer for a Janet who aged in the quantam realm.

I am so stoked that this is Wasp's movie. Hope does all the ass-kicking. She's the bonafide superhero. Scott is the side kick.

I went into it thinking the mid-credits scene would be of Scott watching Cassie disintegrate, so when that didn't happen, I couldn't be too upset about all the Pyms getting dusted. Either Scott will get himself out like he did before, or he'll stay in long enough to get more cool powers like Janet. He's gonna be fine.

I know that end credits scene was supposed to be a joke, but it was nightmare fuel. The world is so empty. *shudders*

I liked FBI agent. I want fic where Scott does get dinner with him. I also want fic where Scott/ex-wife/Bobby Canavale end up in an awesome OT3.

I really loved the movie too! It's just such a sweet, warm, reassuring movie. (Er, except for the end credits scenes, but I fully expect the dusting to be fixed, so I'm not too upset about that.) And I also noticed that about Hope getting most of the ass-kicking scenes and Scott getting the support-staff role. In general it was a very teamworky movie, and just a sweet, funny movie about nice people having things work out well for them, and I think I really needed that.

I hope we get more movies like that in the next Phase Whatever, and less about cosmic death and apocalyptic disaster.

I don't mind some high-stakes stuff mixed with some low-stakes stuff, but I really liked how the early MCU had such a wide range of different styles and feelings (this one's a war movie! this one's a comedy! this one's a 1970s political thriller!) and then it generally tended to get flattened out for a bunch of Big Drama movies. I mean, I LIKED most of the Big Drama movies, but they took more stylistic risks in the beginning. I strongly suspect they won't, but I'd like to see them go for more eclectic stuff in the next phase rather than More Big Drama. I expect that the more money their movies rake in, the more they're going to go for "safe" instead of chancy, though.

Hah.

WASP! <333 ....I was hoping she'd have a big role in IW, but it's neat she's the hero in this one anyway.

I liked it too!

Yeah, the decency of everyone was nice. And the fact that even the villain got showed compassion was pretty cool.

YES to Wasp kicking ass :)

Okay your idea for the midcredits scene would be HORRIFYING I'm so glad it wasn't.

Excellent ideas:

It was SO enjoyable! :) I agree with what you said. (I did skip the post-credit scene; I did not need more depression.)
