Oh yeah, I vastly prefer the Dumbledore who was really trying and fucked it up but the power mad Dumbledore can be more interesting and more fun to read. All blessings to fanfic writers!

I recently reread all seven books and it's interesting how much of it reads differently with foreknowledge. Also I was a bit surprised at how the movies have subtly re-shaped what I remembered from the books.
