Episode 12

I really like Stamets meeting himself in the network and figuring out that his counterpart has been damaging the network in a way that will destroy everything. I really like that he sees Hugh again, and I also like the implication that the network is a kind of afterlife and that they will see each other there in the future.

I really like Michael struggling to masquerade as her counterpart; the part where she chooses a Kelpian to eat without knowing what she's doing is so harrowing. And then the penny drops; she was collaborating with Lorca to overthrow her mom. The revelation that at first he was a mentor to her and then her lover makes all his attention to her make sense. I knew he was the wrong Lorca! *vindicated* That scene in the throne room where the Emperor kills everyone to protect the secret that Michael is from another universe is so badass.

I had thought the the Defiant that ended up in the Mirror!Verse was going to be from DS9, but that's clearly not so as the crew went insane and died.

I like that Saru puts Tyler in L'Rell's cell; one of the minor plot points in the series is about him worrying over his command decisions and worrying that he's not strong enough, and I think this is a really good decision. He's making a gamble, but he's right that L'Rell can't actually abide Tyler's suffering.

Episode 13

I like seeing the dead security officer again as one of Lorca's militia. I'm hoping that Lorca!Prime might still be out there somewhere, but probably not. The transporter swap means that he's almost certainly dead. I think this means that Mirror!Verse Lorca probably chose to destroy his counterpart's ship to prevent detection or because one or more people had realized something was off.

I'm so glad that Michael and Saru are able to repair their relationship and that he calls her a friend.

Lorca just gets more and more disturbing. He likes her better than the original? Sheesh.

Saru gives an awesome pep speech. I love that he doesn't sense their deaths and so can give them all hope that saving the universes won't just be a suicide mission.

I love that the Emperor and Michael cook up a plan and that the Emperor is willing to die to give Michael and the Discovery a chance to escape. I don't think that's all about Michael and her feelings for one or both versions of her, but I think it's some about Michael.

And they show back up in their own universe 9 months later to a lost war with the Emperor in tow.

Okay, this is where my expectations for the show get contraverted. What I expected to happen is that they'd use the network to go back in time to the point they left and prevent the war from being lost as well as bringing Hugh back to life.

Episode 14

So Tyler is now both Tyler and Volk. Poor guy. That actor does a phenomenal job with the character. Really impressive. Oh, my Tilly, always the brave one, sitting with him at lunch. (I'm guessing there are no replicators in quarters which is why he has to come to the mess if he wants to eat.)

The Admiral is alive (Katrina Cornwell)!

Sarek: do not regret loving someone. *my heart*

They develop a plan to stop the war that hinges on the Emperor. Oh, yes, this is foolproof. LOL

Episode 15

Tilly interacting with the Emperor is kinda the best thing ever. Absolutely love the way she walks by Tyler to create a buffer between her and Michael. "I got your back." *smishes her*

Love the world building on Kronos with the tattoos and the drugs and the gambling. Absolutely love the Emperor sleeping with the two harem workers.

And we finally get Michael's back story. She feels responsible for her parents' death because they'd have been off planet during the attack if she hadn't asked them to stay. She's present for her parents' death.

Glad to know the Terran Discovery was destroyed so that loose end is tied up.

Everybody mutinies with Michael! Yay!!!!

I really like the way they solve the problem by giving the bomb to L'Rell; I also really like that Tyler goes with her because that is definitely the best use of his talents. I also really like that the Emperor asks Michael to go with her.

The end feels a little pat to me; everyone gets rewarded with pardons and promotions and command track. I don't object to that, but I think I was so set on my own time-traveling end prediction that the actual end threw me a little. I like that Michael takes on Volk's torchbearer metaphor in her speech to Starfleet.

Love the end scene with the Emperor being recruited for Section 31! And the lead in to season 2 with the Enterprise.

Now we just have to buy season 2. LOL
