I decided I wanted to get back into testing my perfumes. I have a few reviews I wrote in my notebook and never typed up, so I'll go ahead and post those so I can get back to testing in earnest.
The Harlot's House
angela's trumpet, violet, white sandalwood, oude, copaiba balsam, angelica, white tea, olibanum, and oakmoss
I like this one and kept it. I don't smell any woods, but it smells of white tea and is slightly floral and is not overwhelming. Emma thinks it smells bitter and woodsy.
Manhattan
sheer amber, black leather, white mint, lemon peel, white tea, grapefruit, kush, teakwood and orchid
I like this one a lot, but Josh hated it, so I swapped it. To me, it smelled like tea, mint, lemon, orchid, and grapefruit with no leather or wood. After awhile, I smelled the amber. Emma could smell the tea, mint, grapefruit, and a hint of wood or leather.
L'examen de Minuit
frankincense, black plum, melancholy lilac, rose otto, and myrrh
This imp is so old that it basically smells like nothing. :(
El Dia de los Reyes Yule 2015
Hot cocoa with cinnamon, coffee, and brown sugar
This starts off smelling strongly of dark chocolate with a nice edge of burnt sugar. The cinnamon almost gets too assertive but then tamps back down. It smells pleasant but is not something I'd like to wear. A friend who was over at the time of testing also liked it and thought it smelled like brownies.
Crepe de Chine Eau de Cologne E. Millot 1925
Top Notes: Neroli, Italian bergamot, Lemon, Orange, Egyptian basil, Oil of peru, Aldehydes
Heart Notes: Gardenia, Ylang ylang, Carnation, Lilac, Rose oil, Romanian chamomille, Egyptian jasmine
Base notes: Sandalwood, East indian musk, Oakmoss, Vanilla, Vetiver, Benzoin, Labdanum, Indonesian patchouli
This smells like jasmine, soap, and old lady. It is pretty uniformly horrible. The notes sound so interesting, though. I wonder how old the bottle was; that may have contributed. Then again, I pretty much always despise jasmine, so the jasmine may have wrecked it for me. This got passed on.
