I completely agree. Once I had a kid in high school I realized just how badly she's being underserved by her high school classes. They do very little discussion, very little writing about what they've read (most of their writing is about a short passage that mirrors the SAT essay prompts). It's very disheartening.

I think everyone is being more lenient than they would be in normal times. I know I have been. I used to be such a stickler for due dates, and now I've pretty much decided to let people turn in things late regardless.
