Cockaigne
The Land of Plenty, also called Luilekkerland, the Lazy, Luscious Land: milk and honey, sweet cakes and wine.
Emma is indifferent, Josh hates it and calls it cloying, Fiona really likes it (she detects a cinnamon note none of the rest of us do), and I like it fine. It smells like cake, sugar, and vanilla to me. It's not something I want to wear, but I would be perfectly happy to smell it on someone else.
Pride
Vanity in extremis. The scent of rabid hauteur: Moroccan rose and narcissus.
To me, this just smells like tea rose, which is fine but pretty one note. Josh and Emma think this is full-on grandma. LOL Josh detects a daffodil note.
Dead Leaves and Sugared Cardamom
I can't find a note listing for this one.
This one is okay; I can smell cardamom and sweetness and a dirt note. Not compelling enough to keep.
Black Rose
Exquisitely melancholy. The background scent to an ancient exequies. Heavy, dark and floral: a blend of roses, with a touch of amber and musk.
The amber and musk overpower this for me. I can't even smell the roses which is unusual. Typically, anything of BPAL with roses in it goes instantly one-note tea rose on me. This is too heavy for me.
Cleric
Rose amber, frankincense, myrrh, champaca flower, Peru balsam, cistus, palisander, cananga, hyssop, and narcissus absolute.
Nobody likes this one. Emma describes it eloquently as the taste of hand sanitizer mixed with the smell of pee. LOL I'm not quite so poetic. It smells overwhelmingly of frankincense and wood. I smell zero mint which again is unusual for me.
But then! A change! The longer I wear this, the more I like it; it smells like spicy woods after awhile. But it's still not a keeper since everyone else hates it.
And a couple of keepers:
Dirty
A wonderful antidote to an all-nighter oozing with drunken, addled perversion and debauchery. A fresh, crisp white linen scent: perfectly clean, perfectly breezy.
This is clean and slightly sweet, a perfectly innocuous Nice Soap smell. I'd be thrilled to smell like this and have all my linens and clothes smell like this, too.
Dorian
This blend is an artful deception: a sweet gilded blossom lying over a twisted and corrupted core. A Victorian fougere with three pale musks and dark, sugared vanilla tea.
Everybody likes this one! Hurray!
This is creamy, musky vanilla mixed with beautiful lavender. It has a Cologne for Men smell which must be the oakmoss. I love it. (Fougere = lavender, oakmoss, coumarin) I just wish lavender would last.
