1. We are all fine after our bout with COVID.
Everyone but me is completely recovered. I had very few respiratory symptoms; instead my throat hurt very badly when I swallowed as if I had strep, and I just felt generally very crappy (this only lasted for a few days). My back also hurt pretty badly, and that persisted for awhile; apparently back pain is a COVID symptom, particularly with Omicron. Who knew? I also was really nauseated/no appetite for about two weeks after all the other COVID symptoms had resolved.
My main issue is that it kicked off an autoimmune flare up, and I'm just exhausted. I've also got joint and muscle pain and my chest is tight and burny like it was last fall when I had that last major flareup. Sigh.
But I'm fine, and the family is fine. Ever onward.
2. OMG, being Senate Chair is really, really busy. I mean, I knew it would be busy, but several things are making it even busier than I think it has been in past years. It's time for us to create a new 5 year strategic plan, and I'm a part of that group; we've also filled some positions that were vacant, and those people are doing good, necessary work that is meaning more work for me. Also, I'm really interested in utilizing this position in a way that other chairs maybe weren't--not like for a personal agenda or anything but to make sure that all the work the Senate has voted on in the past is actually being implemented, for example. I've sat on Senate for almost a decade, and I have a vested interest in making sure that work wasn't for nothing. But OMG it's really a lot. Like a lot.
3. Yesterday Fiona declared: I'm going to "write a google doc" and call it Father OurLastName, and it's going to be a fanfiction all about the life of Dad. #lifegoals #massreaderappeal

Date: 2022-09-08 10:42 pm (UTC)Good luck with the Senate. I'm getting very, very tired of good things being agreed upon and then no further action taken.

Date: 2022-09-10 11:15 am (UTC)Oh yeah, me. Fortunately, few things have fallen through the cracks, but I'm going to make sure that we follow through on those. The previous chair did a lot of work to shore up processes to make sure this doesn't happen, and I am going to continue to build on his work. (As a weirdo, I actually enjoy this kind of work, so that helps.)
