1. Josh is a lying liar who lies, so he told us he was feeling better while the rest of us were at my parents', and though it is true that the intense, protracted bout of vomiting that began this whole thing has not been repeated, he has been so so ill. We are just waiting on the culture to finish so he can get the meds he needs, and I am so angry they didn't call him yesterday because they damn sure aren't going to call him today since it's a holiday. He is so so miserable. I would not wish cdiff on anyone.

His foot surgery has been canceled, and I am relieved. But I am also a bit worried because the surgery is to repair a tear in the tendon, and I worry that putting it off means that the tear will just get worse. Now he won't be able to have it until December. Our offices are not ADA-compliant; they are only accessible by stairs (I know), and also it will just be an enormous pain in the ass to recover from the surgery while working and much easier to do it during our off time. Sigh.

They are even more beautiful in person; photos and videos can't really capture how pretty the stones are.

I think everywhere was closed on Monday and on the fourth. *sigh* So it should be today. Or I am raising holy hell.

Well, almost everywhere has, but several of the buildings on campus are really old, and our office building is one of those.

Jack is such a talented jewelry maker. The wire work on those necklaces is just astonishingly good. It's so hard to do.

I am so sorry about Josh feeling so bad! Will the U not do something to accommodate him? My colleague had foot surgery in August, two years ago, and the college installed a chair lift to get her up to her classrooms (and also to make the classrooms generally more accessible). Is it worth asking, or are they just jerks?

Oh, they would totally accommodate him in some way, probably by giving him office space somewhere that is accessible by elevator. But that's such a pain in the ass, you know? All his stuff is on his computer in his office, and wherever they found for him to go might be stupidly inconvenient--a shared space or somewhere kinda public like the library or I don't know. He's just not going to want to fool with it. If it an unavoidable surgery he had to have right now or whatever, they would 100% accommodate him. I don't mean to disparage them.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear all this! Isn't there ANY office space on the ground floor or near an elevator that could swap with Josh's office? I mean, maybe somebody from the Biology department is a fitness freak who LOVES climbing stairs.

However, July is the worst time for surgery because everybody has been a doctor or nurse or physical therapist for only a couple of days, by December they are much more self-assured and competent.

Oh, the university would 100% accommodate him and find him some other office space; it would just be inferior to what he's got and inconvenient in some way, and I know Josh is not going to want to fool with it. LOL

It'll be okay. If he has it December then I don't have to either come up with an excuse for staying here while they all go to his folks' or go with them to his folks' and have an awful time. So win!
