lunabee34I've seen the meme going 'round where you list your favorites of your own fic and thought I'd give it a go.
BtVS
Something Elemental Buffy/Faith I am proudest of this story. It’s the first piece of femslash I ever wrote, and the first piece I wrote from Buffy’s perspective. I tried very hard to make this fic a canonically possible one. I always wondered what happened in Faith’s coma dream when she and Buffy fell into the open grave and thought I’d just write it. I also really wanted to explore the notion of Slayerhood and the ways in which Buffy and Faith are connected because of their Calling.

Rumpelstiltskin This fic is a Regan Tam piece that provides some back story for the character and attempts to explain the behavior we see from her in canon. This fic also strives to be canonically plausible; I really have a thing for fics that can fit seamlessly into canon, but at the same time offer the reader an unexpected way to think about that canon. I also liked this because I had to think very carefully about class and world building and the kind of tiny details that would make up Regan Tam’s existence.
5 Utterly Sadistic Things that Never Happened to Simon Tam I think this might have been the first piece I ever wrote for the five things meme. I love the five things meme because it’s such an interesting way to explore character and character motivation. I like this piece because I think I captured Simon’s voice fairly well and also the bleak and despairing tone the show could sometimes take. There’s also a fair bit of violence in this piece, which I feel is very difficult to write, and I think I pulled it off passably well. Plus, putting Simon through hell was a wee bit of gratuitous fun—the boy looks pretty when he’s all hurty.

Normal This is the first piece I wrote in the Harry Potter fandom, a Petunia-centric gen piece that again is canonically possible. I wanted to offer some rational explanation for Petunia to loathe Harry. I wanted to provide some reason I could believe for her lack of feeling for him. I also have a thing for mom fic, apparently, as this is about the third piece I've written that deals with that subject, and for trying to find ways to sympathize with very unsympathetic characters.

Erosion Very mild Wincest. This is the first piece I wrote in the Supernatural fandom, which has eaten my brain. This is the first fandom I've belonged to where the source material was still airing (HP is still alive, too, but waiting on a book to come out and watching a TV show each week are a little different in terms of excitement LOL). It's a really different experience than I've had before, much more intense and it feels like the possiblities are wide open. I like this piece because I was trying to explore some of my own mental issues, trying to figure out how to articulate the way I feel sometimes, and then I thought I'd just let Dean do it for me. :)

I have not seen those threads, but I haven't seen Deadwood either. We don't get HBO.

I'm thrilled you're having that experience. My memories of the excitement of waiting for the next episode of BtVS to air are still vivid and probably the source of my continuing love affair with the fandom. *g*
