This is my fourth year to do Remix, and I think I'm finally getting the hang of the fest. LOL Remix and Yuletide are my very favorite fannish activities because they dovetail so nicely with my own personal investment in fandom. I don't really have anything new to say about Remix, so you might want to click on the "dear remixer letters" tag to read my letters from previous years. (In fact, I have so little new information to offer that I apparently didn't even write a letter last year. *headdesk*)

The bottom line is--do what you will! This fest is for you, not me. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Dear Remixer,

This will be my second remix, and I'm very excited about participating. I had such fun last year--both with the fics I wrote and the remix of my work. I think this is the ficathon most in keeping, most in tune, with what we as fans are about. I know that fandom means many things to many people, but for me, fandom is a glorious subversion, a celebration of what is and what might be, a peek between the closed curtains, a look behind or ahead or even sideways. We do these things to the source material with our fic, our icons, our art, our vids all the time, and Remix gives us a chance to give our fellow fans the same attention.

I believe that Remix is about the remixer, not the remixee, in the same way that I believe that the fanfic I've written is about me and my interpretation of canon and not so much Joss Whedon or J.J. Abrams. Do what you will; this is not about pleasing me.

I've ventured into new territory since last remix. There's RPF and Star Trek!reboot to play with now. Click the tag if you like and read last year's letter; I say a little bit more there about the focus of most of my fic that might be helpful.

Have fun and cross your fingers for me as I write as well.

Dear Remixer,

This is my first year to do this ficathon (or really any established, multifandom ficathon) and I am both incredibly exicted and very, very nervous.

Please, please, please feel free to do whatever with any of my stories. I may be very wrong (as my remixee may later lament!), but I feel like this challenge is for the remixer not the original author. This is about what *you* want to do with my work--what you want to subvert, what you want to illuminate, what road you want to travel. This is not about pleasing me (although I think I can say with a fair degree of certainty that *anything* you choose to do will please me) but rather taking what I've done and putting your own fingerprints on it.

I have tended in much of my fanfic to either focus on characters that are on the periphery (Regan Tam or Ava or Moaning Myrtle) or on characters that are largely considered unlikeable (yo, Kavanagh! LOL) in an attempt to make those characters more sympathetic. I think you have a fair amount of material in several fandoms to work with (including Die Hard! Don't forget the Die Hard. *g*) as well as a mixture of secondary and primary characters.

In short, go hog wild. I am already honored that someone is taking such a thoughtful look at what I've written and I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Any positive vibes you can send my way as I work on my own assignment would be appreciated muchly. LOL
