I've always gotten occasional complaints from people who couldn't find the comment button on my journal, but they've been coming fast and furious for a few months now so I decided to change my layout (*wails* I loved my layout *sob* but I digress). I tried to find something as close to what I had already that has the comment function at the bottom of the entry rather than on the side.
I'd like for the font to be bigger and I'd like to change the colors of, say, links. I can find where to do that but I don't know where to find a list of the colors to choose from or which font I should choose to make it bigger. Can anybody direct me please?
ETA: I figured it out!

LOL
Whenever I post a link in a comm to my fic, I inevitably get a few comments in the comm instead of in my actual journal from people saying that they can't find the comment button in my journal. It's the unearthed thingy that does that. My old layout was veiled metal, but it only comes in unearthed, not one of the styles where you can comment at the bottom. Personally, I don't think it's all that confusing, especially after about a year or so ago when I changed the comment button from saying something cutesy back to saying "leave a comment," but apparently it is confusing to many people.
I'm okay with this being my new layout, I'd just like to change a few things about it. Even if I did go back to the old layout, I'd still need to know about the color and font thing because

Date: 2007-11-29 07:24 pm (UTC)What I mean about forcing your style on the comments page is... you know how your LJ looks, right? Well when I'm visiting individual pages, I want them to rather than showing all that stuff. I want them to look like so: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v35/hermionesviolin/LJ_display.jpg
LJ has an option so I can make all entries I read off my friendspage display that way, but if I'm direct-linked to an entry I have to manually add ?style=mine to the end of the URL unless they've done the following:

Disable customized comment pages for your journal

Date: 2007-11-29 07:31 pm (UTC)I decided just to try to click on everything on the customize page and lo and behold that worked. If you click on each color it brings up a box of options to choose from. And sans serif is the bigger font, fyi.
Yay. It's looked pretty much like I want it now. Thanks for your help, Elizabeth.

Plus, all my black and white icons look really awesome on this layout.

Re: *hugs*
Date: 2007-11-29 10:39 pm (UTC)I'm sorry the season's gone so sour for you. I know how much you enjoy football.
Re: *hugs*
Date: 2007-11-30 01:03 am (UTC)I have some ideas, but you'll just have to wait and see (so will I, actually). I really liked my other (not-Cal) layout, so I might just do that again. I want a style that has a tag list, though.
And oh, my team, they are so much worse than our worst expectations. (Also: you might have already heard, and this has additional importance since you're moving home soon, but USM just fired Jeff Bower, and the entire sports world is aghast. So far as I can tell, the Golden Eagle world is fairly relieved, because their season has turned out a lot worse than ours.)
Re: *hugs*
Date: 2007-11-30 01:15 am (UTC)My parents are die hard Eagle fans, always get season tickets, listen to the games on the radio if they can't go and Mom commented to me over the holidays--"I'm just done with them for now, Lorraine. Tired of it." And it was like she had told me that daddy was about to carve up a newborn for our Thanksgiving feast. Never thought I'd hear her say that. So, I bet they are relieved too.
I knew about Coach O here at Ole Miss, of course. The football player I teach was telling the class about how security had to escort him out after they fired him. LOL
Re: *hugs*
Date: 2007-11-30 02:08 am (UTC)They really had people escort Orgeron out? That's weird (for the players, I mean: they put all their trust in this guy, and then the rug is pulled out from all of them). But then, Ole Miss immediately hired someone else's recently fired coach (Houston Nutt from Arkansas), so I guess it's all good.
In the last few years, I've discovered that off-season coaching changes in college football are the best soap opera ever.

I think I've gotten over the shock of changing it and now I'm actually having a good time fooling around with stuff.
