First off, Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] authoressnebula. I'm pretty sure you don't read my journal, but warm wishes all the same.

Secondly, if you enjoy my students-are-insane posts, check out these two offerings posted in my grad student friend [livejournal.com profile] djdarksoul's lj.

The Tattoo Saga, Part 1

The Tattoo Saga, Part 2

Be sure to read his brief explanations before the papers begin.

Thirdly, all you Star Trek junkies on my flist, rejoice. Arguably the best Star Trek novel writer (we're talking TNG here), Peter David, is writing a graphic novel about Spike. I think my squeees can be heard all across the globe. I mean, Peter David is brilliant. I want to have his novelist babies. He can do funny like nobody's fucking business. And when he wants to get angsty--whoa, mama.

Fourthly, and finally, I know most of you won't read gen or het, but I'm reading this story right now that's just blowing me out of the water. It's by [livejournal.com profile] liz_marcs and is one of the most brilliant things I've read in quite some time. It's called Water Hold me Down. There are nominal pairings (X/F, X/A), but it's not a ship-driven piece. It's completely character-driven. If you are at all interested in the character of Xander (and particularly his relationship (meant in a non-slashy way, although I suppose you could be subtexty with it if you wished) with Giles), this is something you must read.

Peter David is doing SPIKE?!!!

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

Gods I love that man. I when I loved I had to get rid of a lot of my books but my Star Trek novels by him wasn't in that list and neither were my Aquaman comics! He made Arthur so dark and brooding he gave Bats a run for his money, it was so yummy!

Okay, my fangirling will go over here now.

MWAH!

I know; I could never get rid of my ST novels. LOL They're my mom's technically. She's been collecting them since they started doing ST novels, back for the original series.

Can't wait to get my paws on that graphic novel. Heeeee.......

Wow, those papers were...painful.

And is HIV+ a new form of HIV (I totally admit I don't keep up on this stuff) or is it HIV positive?

Nose rings found new interest when young people (they were called hippies then) from the U.S. began traveling in India extensively looking for enlightenment in the 1960’s.

So were all young people hippies then?

Oh, yeah, getting less concerned about going back to school with every post you make about students. :)

Yeah. You have absolutely no worries, Shannon. LOL

I think the key to reading something like this is not to try to make it make sense. That just leads to brain hurtyness.

Ah, well thats the problem then. I thought papers for school were supposed to make sense.

Any idea how many times I had to read HIV+ before I realized it was HIV positive?

From: [identity profile] djdarksoul.livejournal.com
it took me upwards of five to realize what "HIV+" was... and i was supposed to grade it. realize also that four of the five times were reading it aloud to friends and then laughing hysterically before the awkward silence of "dear god, he's in COLLEGE" set in.

I know, I kept thinking "is there some new strain of HIV that I haven't heard of?" It's not even that I've never seen it written that way, I worked for 10 years in a pharmacy and test results will be written that way because, well, doctors are lazy. It was the you can get HIV+ that was throwing me off I think.

Although as I told Lorraine, these things make me much less concerned about whether or not I can really go back to school. If this is what they're writing I can do that. :)

I butchered your quote a bit... but just wanted you to know I went and read this fic in one night. That's why you have no 'Scopare' to beta. See, all your fault... lol!

Good fic btw... I like Journeyverse myself for a gen/het fic fix.

Wheeeeeeeeeee!

I'm so glad somebody took the bait and went and read it. I'm desperately waiting for a new chapter. Of that, and "Angst Monkey." That's my other WIP that I watch like a hawk. Have you read that one?

Nope.. Stick the url in a comment or email it to me. I like Xander as a character and will ready pretty much anything he's in...I like a X/F pairing, hate X/A in het. Can't read Spuffy or Xuffy(?)Bander (?) though... turns my stomach!

This is Xander/Angel/sometimes Spike. And it is a serious cryfest. When you finish the mems, check her journal. I think there's one chappie she hasn't put in mems yet, and that's the one where you get some C with your H/C. LOL

Tatoo saga, indeed.

That was all kinds of funny. So Tatoos are nasty, then? ~is confused~

Thank you!

"gay" Hee!

From: [identity profile] djdarksoul.livejournal.com
the best part about "gay" is that i ran into him the day before and he told me his paper was "going to be offensive." that's the only part i can figure out that would be offensive since i have the "many earring or two earrings in one ear" that means "gay." Funny, though, because i usually mention my wife and child at least once a week while teaching. but his mother told him the sign, so damn, i must be gay. and the nastiest thing to look at. period.

ROFLMAO
