Iconses, preciouses, and Yuletide

I need help with icons, and so I turn to you, dear flist for advice.
HERE are my userpics and as you can see, I tend to gravitate towards black and white (with hints of red), textless icons, many times with off-center cropping and extreme closeups on people. As you can see from scrolling down to the bottom, I have recently uploaded some spectacular icons (all shareable) of which Megan's Ronon icon is a particularly exquisite example. I know that many people frequently switch out their icons, but I tend to think of an icon as a keeper. I only upload it if I'm fairly certain I'm going to want to keep it for the long haul. Sometimes I change my mind; you'll notice that I have almost no Firefly and Buffy icons; this is partly because when I was in those fandoms, icons were not very important to me as a function of lj and partly because by the time they did matter, I wasn't really participating in those fandoms anymore.
All of this is a long winded way to ask the following questions:
1. What do y'all think about my Carson and Radek icons? Do they fit into my overall icon scheme? I've never really liked either of them as much as I should, but I can't find the black and white examples that I really want. Have you guys seen any black and white Carson or Radek icons?
2. Any other icons you see that I should delete and replace with something better?
3. I'm also looking for black and white icons of Caldwell, the first icarnation of Ruby and Dean smiling. I realized that all of my Dean icons are very somber and I need one of him grinning.
Any help on these fronts will be greatly appreciated.
Finally, I signed up for Yuletide. It's my first year and I'm nervous. Any advice? (I'm not supposed to say what I offered to write only what I requested, correct?)

Date: 2008-11-08 03:38 am (UTC)A long winded lead in to answering your questions:
1. I like the icons you have. They don't quite fit into the newest scheme (all of the b/w/r ones. But they fit well with the overall secondary theme--a lot of blues & greens. I haven't seen any b/w Carson ones other wise I would have snagged away.
2. gaston, joyce mom, victorian slash & feel suicidal are the ones that jumped out as incongruous with the overall vibe your icons give. (the others that don't quite fit are dedicated to specif things-LJ comms etc).
3. No help here.

Coffee icons! Yay! I don't like to drink coffee but I do love to smell it.
