Okay, here's the thing. I've been fangirling Firefly like there's no tomorrow. I saw the series on its first run in 2002, but that's the year my daughter was born, and between the high-risk pregnancy and the premie birth, I just didn't remember a lot of it. A few weeks ago, I borrowed the DVD from a friend and began rewatching episodes. Some I watched as many as 7 times as various friends and family members expressed interest in the series.

I have loved much television (hello Much See TV senior year!!!!!!!), but I don't think anything has ever EVER ever EVER come so close to fucking perfection as this series. (I'm so sorry BtVS and Ats; I promise to put out extra special tonight, but it's true. I'm in love (kayrumption) with another gal all together.) You know how all TV shows have that sucky, or at least awkward first season? Not so, Firefly. The series is magic from ep one. And I LOVe LOVE LOVE all the characters!!!!!! There's no magical alcoholic Willow to scoff at; no InsanoBuffy to wanna smack; no WTF Connor is sticking it where's it? to deal with. Just 9 people who are beautiful and beautifully fucked up.

Tonight, lisatheobscure and I had the final disk to watch. We watched the first ep and it was awesome. We watched "Heart of Gold" and it was amazing. And then "Objects in Space." I sat there watching, and I thought, "There's thirty minutes left." And then there were twenty and then ten, and then...........it was over.

I don't think I can express ....... English language how you fail me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sad and I'm pissed off and I want more and I can't wait for the movie, but once it gets here, it'll just be over again. I am honestly emotionally distraught and it's not the period that's gonna start any second. Nuh uh. It's Zoe and Wash and not knowing if they get that baby they want so much, and Kaylee and how fucking damn SHINY she is and how dumb Simon is for not just kissing her. Right on the mouth. She'd taste like strawberries and grease and freedom. And Book and his damn Alliance connection that noboby can get her head around. And Inara and her stupid leaving. HE WAS ABOUT TO SAY HE LOVED YOU, YOU FUCKING NITWIT. And Mal. Mal and his honor. Mal and his angsty, sexy, angsty, champion, tattoo, doing the right thing, guh, OMFG, boy talks in a Southern accent, do ya wanna see my gun, Mal. I don't think I can.....yeah. I know it's just a show, but damn.

HEY! what about Jayne??? I LOVE Jayne. Jayne is so my favorite! even though you think he's all easy to read, selfish asshole guy, he's not! There's something about him, something different and good! He LOVES his mom! He bows his head and says grace with the shepherd! And he wore that damn, ugly, but filled with so much love, hat! Just cause his momma made it!

Well, you can get every friend you know to watch the movie a few times, that would help. Universal says that if Serenity makes at leats $80 million they'll give Joss a greenlight for a sequel! woot!

And you know, you could always *write* what you want to happen. I've been toying with doing some firefly fic... I just can't seem to wrap my head around the voices yet. And the mandarin is kinda scary, lol.

I miss it, too. *sigh*

You don't happen to have any plans to go to the Big Damn Flanvention in December do you?

Oh, honey. Jayne's my favorite. I didn't mention him cause I just couldn't without getting too worked up to type. I love his character. I mean, you can't be stupid and survive out there in the black. *g*

I am digging on some FF fic. I think I might write some in the near future.

It's a the first US firefly convention and it's gonna be in December in Santa Monica, CA. http://www.boosterevents.com/Default.aspx?tabid=171 EVERY cast member has signed on as guest! EVERYONE! I'm dying to go, but I haven't quite convinced myself and I wasn't sure if anyone I knew was going... *sigh*

That sounds fucking amazing. Every cast member sans Zoe? I mean, I love Gina Torres, but I wouldn't even miss her with all the Jayne-ness and Mal-ness floating around. LOL

I know what you mean... It's only just been released here in Oz. I had to get my dvds from USA. I watched it right thru the first time. I've watched it several times since. I have dragooned my kids into it too. Several mates are interested but they are into it because of Alan Tudyk from Kinght's Tale, or Richard Burgi from Sentinel (he played the bad cop in the dead/not dead soldier ep).

I can't wait on the movie coming out. I anticipate that the fandom will really explode then! And see... shiny new fandom just waiting for you!!

I think this is a show I could watch over and over over and over and never tire of. Kinda like ST. Except, cover your ears Roddenberry, way better. LOL

one of my favorite quotes from the series was from Jayne:

Jayne: You know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go get and beat you with until you understand who's in ruttin' command here. Now we're finishing this deal, and then maybe maybe we'll come back for those morons who got themselves caught.
[Starts breathing heavily]
Jayne: You can't change that by getting all...
[His voice slows]

Wash: [not understanding the bendy thing] All what?

I know! I know! I adore Jayne's character. He's probably my favorite after Mal, although I love the whole crew so much there's very few degrees of separation between them for me. I think my favorite Jayne moment is when he and Kaylee are watching the Councillor come on board and he's saying, "I'll be in my bunk," every five minutes. Cracks me up.

I also adore Wash. I love the part where the Alliance is politely interrogating them and Zoe refuses to give up any info about their marriage and Wash is all, "Have you ever been with a warrior woman?" That killed me!

Do you have the DVDs or are you just watching it on SciFi? Cause there's 3 or 4 eps Fox didn't air that I don't know if SciFi is gonna show and they are essential watching. The special features are also worth a looksee.

i just rented the dvds from As Seen On, so i got to see the special features. great stuff. and i bet SciFi will show the unaired eps because they began with "Serenity"--the ACTUAL pilot that didn't air until after the show was cancelled. so i bet they'll do the unaired ones, too.

Firefly is brilliant. I missed it on TV but bought the DVD and it's one of my better purchases. My personal favourite is Mal. It was the suit he wore in Shindig. I was fine with no obessions right up until that episode. Now look at me I've gone and made an icon and everything.

I can't wait until the film, the trailers look amazing.

Mal is also my favorite. He is just...so much. You know? My favorite Mal moment is in "Ariel" when he's got Jayne holed up in the airlock and he says, with all the anguish, "You did it to me, Jayne." I thought I would break in half with the crying. LOL Joss is so good at ripping your heart out.
