Hey! *waves at everybody*

We're all okay; we got power back this morning and our water came back on about an hour ago, although we're gonna have to boil it. Our phone is down, and the automated service is predicting Sept 30 before they can get it back on. I don't think it'll be that long, but *shrugs*

We talked to everybody in Jackson and they're all okay with no structural damage. The town is screwed though. Basically everyone is without power and it probably won't be restored for weeks. There was so much damage done there. I haven't seen any fatality estimations yet.

My parents are in Hattiesburg which was hit even harder than Jackson. I haven't been able to get through to them since yesterday. From what I've been able to gather from the news, pretty much the whole town is out of power as well and the damage done was tremendous. I really hope they're okay.

What I'm really worried about is my grandmother and two sets of aunts and uncles who stayed in Gulfport. I can't believe they did that. The words f*cking idiots come to mind. Gulfport is destroyed; the storm surge was bigger than the one with Camille. For those not in the know, Camille is synonymous with Apocaylpse down this way. I have no way of getting in touch with them or knowing if they are okay. It could be days before I do. And even if they are okay, they might have lost everything.

I'm probably not gonna be around much in teh next little while. *hugs y'all*

I just found out from a third party that my parents are okay, but nobody knows about my family in Gulfport.

My state is just destroyed. Like, I don't understand how they're gonna rebuild it destroyed.

I have so many friends all over the state I haven't heard from. This is so nerve wracking. I don't mean to be so emotional, but I can't help it.

I'm barely holding it together. We've got people staying with us from Jackson where there's no power and no way of knowing if many of our friends and family are okay. This not knowing is killing me. It might be as long as a week before I know if my family in Gulfport is safe.

Wow, I'm sure glad you're okay and I hope all your friends and family are okay too. Must be a really scary thing! It really is scary. I've heard tonight from people I haven't heard from in years who moved away from MS but still have family here they can't get in touch with. I just heard from a third party that my parents are okay, but nobody knows about my family in Gulfport. This is just so insane. It's like bombs went off and blew up the entire bottom half of the state. I don't know how we're gonna recover from this.

I'm glad the folks are okay. Hopefully the rest got lucky too. I watched as much as I could stand of the evening news and of course Gulfport was one of the areas they focused on. I haven't been this upset about the news since 911 (and my hubby was at the Pentagon that day so it was personal).

Hopefully your family doesn't have to deal with the looters and nutjobs running about until the Guard gets in place.

Oh, wow. How scary must that have been. No one that I actually know was affected by 911 personally beyond the horror and fear we all felt as a nation. I'm assuming hubby was okay.

I don't know about all the nutjobbiness. We can't really get any news about MS; they're all focusing on NO. Hopefully they won't get caught in any of that.

Unfortunately 80% of the rest of the state is without power, water, phone so I feel really damn lucky.

I heard from a third party that my parents are okay, but no word from the family on the Coast. I think it might be days before we know.

Everything is really good here. I finally heard from ALL my family and they're all safe with a suprisingly small amount of property damage. I couldn't be more pleased. Now if they can just survive the looting and the fighting over supplies, we'll be good to go.
