LJ is being all wonky and not letting me edit my Rec post, so . . .
Firefly fic recs, Part II
http://www.livejournal.com/users/glossing/188771.html?view=4165987#t4165987 "Shine on Me, Part 1" by
glossing Devon, Oz and Giles are transported forward in time to Serenity. Naughtiness and other shininess ensues. Really great Devon piece. I love the way Gloss writes him. The words "fallible sex god" have been used.
http://remix.illuminatedtext.com/dbfiction.php?fiction_id=128 "Means of Expression" by Molly Zoe/Inara Zoe is left to care for their child after Wash dies; except she's not alone. She has the crew of Serenity. Heartbreaking.
http://remix.illuminatedtext.com/dbfiction.php?fiction_id=79 "Time Flies You Can't" by Sabine River/Mal except not. This is gorgeous, horrible, uncomfortable, beautiful prose, damn wowness. A must read.

claireweasley Simon/Jayne This is such an interesting story. It's told backward from the end and the narrative structure makes for a really interesting and really sad read.
http://emungere.animeglore.com/fic/oxygen.html "Oxygen" by Eleanor K. Jayne/Mal Jayne does some thinking in the airlock after "Ariel." I really really really like the beginning of this fic; I find the transition to the having sex a bit tough to buy, but the beginning is just magic.
http://emungere.animeglore.com/fic/immanent.html "Immanent" by Eleanor K. Simon/Mal This is the first of three fics in a series (links to the others at the bottom of the page). It's a really interesting take on the relationship. It's not an equal one and not an altogether healthy one. Nice psychological exploration of both characters.
http://emungere.animeglore.com/fic/right.html "Right" by Eleanor K. Mal/Jayne First in a series of two fics (link at bottom of page) in which Jayne tries to put a smile on Mal's face. This is plausible sex. The fic is very IC for both of them, and really a joy to read. Amusing.
http://emungere.animeglore.com/fic/a_day_like_today.html "A Day Like Today" by Eleanor K. Mal/Simon This made me sob, in a good way. Really short vignette. Sweet, so sweet.
http://emungere.animeglore.com/firefly/tthu.html "Things that Haunt Us" Series by Eleanor K. Ten stories so far, with the possibility of update, so keep checking. Mal/Simon and so damn believeable. The UST continues for about seven stories, lots of build up and so plausible. Also good deal of attention to the other characters on the boat. Wash in particular is well done.
http://slashgirls.tripod.com/imbued.html "Imbued" by Kirby Crow Simon/Jayne. This piece hits all my current FF kinks....HARD. There's Jayne, all guilty and ashamed after "Ariel," yet lusting after Simon. Clueless adoring Simon. A Mal that knows too much and it tears him up inside. The dialogue is wonderful, the sex guh!worthy, and the exploration of character impeccable. Wooooooooooo! Ahem.
http://unitb.slashcity.net/andromeda/mt.html "Merc Talk" by Ana. An issue of a merc magazine that will make you laugh until you cry. Heeeeeee....... So silly.
http://silverlake.imjustsayin.net/mosca-fromthehip.html "From the Hip" by Mosca. Simon/Mal Great River bits in here. I'm rapidly coming to love all of Mosca's work.
http://www.livejournal.com/users/goldatamera/156573.html?view=1226397#t1226397 "Waking the World Away" by
goldatamera Simon/Jayne OMG!!!!!! This fic is amazing. It's incredibly plausible and the narrative style is out of this world. It incorporates a kind of fairy tale that is made of the most haunting, lyrical language ever. Amazing. Also, very sad.
http://www.livejournal.com/users/goldatamera/138857.html "Bitter Like This"> by
goldatamera Vague Simon/Jayne This is very short and barely anything happens plotwise. But the language is so beautiful and evocative. It's like a prose poem. Everything is so tangible. Damn.

Date: 2005-09-02 03:57 am (UTC)It's Buffy/Mal Before the battle, Angel reminded them all once more that, no matter what, no one could allow themselves to fall through the portal and, if someone should, they would need to get back out before the demon was killed. Too bad, when it comes to the Scoobies, things never seem to go according to plan.

Date: 2005-09-06 01:28 pm (UTC)I also like Mal a lot more than I like Xander though. He's just not one of my favorites.
But really Some Kind of Heaven is Mal/Buffy, so it was just full of reasons for me to not like it but I did.
