1. If I get another graduation or wedding invitation addressed to "Mr. and Mrs. Josh JoshLastName," I think I will scream. It's not even the Dr. thing. I don't expect Josh's cousins on his mom's side, for example, to know I was even pursuing a Ph.D., much less that I finished it. And I find most people who publicly insist that everyone call them Dr. to be obnoxious at best. No, it's that I kept my last name when I married Josh, it was a huge scandal on both sides of the family for some reason, and *everybody* (even the cousins twice removed on both sides) knows I didn't change my name. If you would like me to send you twenty bucks for graduation (even though I have no idea what you look like), please address your envelope correctly!
2. I am having a great deal of fondness for this final season of True Blood. I loved the show from the very beginning; it's just fun and silly and over-the-top, but somehow manages to make me care very deeply about the characters. I wasn't sold on Bill or Sookie to begin with; it took me several seasons to care about Bill, and Sookie still mostly annoys me more than anything else, but Bill is one of my favorite characters now. There's only three episodes left, and I feel this terrible foreboding that he might actually die. I am in favor of the Pam-n-Eric show, and I think the scene from two episodes ago where Eric turns to Pam and says, "Our first sunrise together," might be my most favorite moment of the entire series. I am curious to see where they're going with this Tara thing; I have no idea what she could want them to dig up in the yard of her childhood home and how that will relate to the overall story arc of the season. I also wonder who will be endgame for Sookie; I know she and Sam get together in the books but that makes no sense for the show. I think I'd like Sookie to be with Bill, and I want Jessica and Jason to get back together. Can't wait until next Sunday!
3. I hope we can go see GotG on Wednesday. There's a 12:00 showing, so we could all go while Fiona is in daycare!

Date: 2014-08-04 11:45 pm (UTC)That's so sad, in this day and age. :-(
Do you think people get it wrong because they're careless and lazy or are they making a point? Either way, it's very rude.

Date: 2014-08-07 04:25 am (UTC)Screw 'em. Women deserve to be continually addressed by their own names, whatever they choose to have them be.
(No Ph.D.s or MDs in the family, so no worries on that, at least.)
