We could talk about how I am re-reading The Mortal Instruments series so I can read the final book and how I still think it's pretty awesomesauce. Yes. I know. But it really is.

Or we could talk about how one would go about commenting on an anonmeme like FFA. I read it every night but I've never commented. How do you go about replying to comments? Refresh every thread you commented in ad nauseum? Track the thread and log out and use email notifications?

I comment a lot on FFA! (In fact, so much that I have to stop myself checking "anonymous" when I'm in namespace, and it's weird to have to pick out an icon.) But I flatmeme and if there's something that looks like a reply to me I just parent up. I know I miss some, but, eh, it wasn't meant to be.

I'm watching Orphan Black S2 on Netflix. I was going to congratulate myself on my prescience in crossing it over with Continuum when a Continuum actor showed up but then there are probably only six Canadian actors anyway? (Or 830 Canadian actors but 824 are Tatiana Maslany?

What is flat meming? How can you tell a comment might be for you?

I am so tempted to start commenting, especially in the fic rec threads, because I always have fics to rec for those. LOL

I have heard such good things about Orphan Black; it's on my list of to watch.

I comment sometimes, but nobody likes my pairing (just like namespace!), and I'm not active in any fandoms right now, so it's usually pretty catch-as-catch-can. The nice thing about anon is that no one cares (or knows) if you come back.

Yeah, I don't get flatmeming either, except I guess as a way to see what discussions are ongoing. But I read maybe one in five threads on an interesting day, so it's not my method of choice.

I think fic recs are a great place to start if you want to comment. MOAR RECS.

Flatmeming is a kind of performance art, and sometimes when I parent up it is distinctly less amusing *in* context than out.

I'm never interested in anime, manga, sports, or RPF stuff. Sometimes I try not flatmeming but I get so frustrated when there are 250 comments in a thread, and 46 of them are about something I'm interested in and the rest stuff I'm NOT interested in but there's no way to tell because all the Fic Recs or whatever are just thrown in the same thread.

I don't read the sports threads or the fest threads usually or the WiP threads.

I read the anime/manga ones if it's about one I've watched or read.

I've seen people who are flatmeming comment that something was waaay funnier before they parented up. LOL

BTW the way I handle my Meme Time-Sink is by Favoriting each new post as it is announced. Then I click on that in my Favorites menu, click View Flat, and then there's a list of numbered links within the meme that shows (sorta--the color for Viewed and Unviewed links is very similar) which ones I've read already. Usually I've missed too many to catch up, so I start, say, ten before the end and read those in order.

I've been reading it as an archive. I go through each post, pretty much from the start to finish, skipping the threads I don't care about, but it's already over by the time I start reading. I'm usually about two or three posts behind the active post in my reading.

Orphan Black is awesomecakes! I mean, there probably isn't any way to disentangle it and come up with a single thread explaining the whole thing, and there definitely are moments that must be attributed to A Wizard Did It, and Big Dick Paul actually makes me say Come Back, Riley, All Is Forgiven.

I definitely recommend marathoning Orphan Black instead of watching an episode a week, it's hard enough keeping track of all the details even if you marathon. I also like reading the AV Club review after I see an episode--there are always lots of things that other people pick up that I missed.

PSYCH! I have seen every single episode and it is a thing of beauty and a joy forever. Tell me more how you feel about it?

OMG, I love it.

We have seen through the Christmas ep of season 2.

It's kind of a perfect show. I love that the cast of characters is essentially good people. They're all adorable and kind to each other, and even Shawn's dad (who is often an asshole) clearly has a deep affection for his son.

I love how funny it is. It's so inside jokey and pop culture references all over the place and all the sci-fi cameos fill my heart with joy. It's like Joss Whedon decided to write a straight up comedy with no black humor and no tempering with angst.

It's a thing of beauty.

I want to read fic, but I am sitting on my hands and not doing so until we finish the show because I don't want to be spoiled. So, probably Christmas?
