Monday, the WTF edition

1. While at his appointment to renew his Zoloft prescription, Josh had to submit to a pee test to prove he's not an oxycontin swilling methhead. WTF? It's ZOLOFT! This is a new policy; apparently SSRIs are now classified as controlled substances. Wow.

2. Josh took Fiona for her 18 month appointment today whereupon he learned that despite being almost entirely asymptomatic (no fever, no runny nose, no sleep or eating disruptions, playing and laughing and happy; she did cough a little the past few nights but that's not unusual for her)--SHE IS ON THE BORDERLINE OF HAVING PNEUMONIA! So today has been full of traumatic breathing treatments, and she's on Prednisone again. *sigh* I can't wait for the monster to be unleashed. *flails*

Oh, poor Fiona! The kidlet had a similar situation, where I took him in for what I thought was a mild cold, but turned out to be a huge emergency room visit for nebulizer treatments. And a baby on Prednisone? Ack!

Oh, man, that sounds awful. :(

This is actually her second time on Prednisone. The first time she took it, it turned her into an irritable monster. Who ate everything. LOL I hope she can handle it a little better this time.

Zoloft reclassified as a controlled substance? It doesn't meet the criteria specified in the Controlled Substances Act but I guess they see it differently in your country. The drug testing thing before getting a prescription renewed would be WTF under any circumstances, controlled substance or not.

I hope your child recovers quickly. Finding out that a child is asymptomatic but on the verge of pneumonia would have thrown me for a loop.

And I hope the rest of your week goes better.

IDK Since I wasn't there, I only have what they told Josh (filtered through his memory) and he didn't ask questions. I would have though. It just doesn't make any sense to me. I wonder if it's just a policy this particular office implemented for some reason. I just don't get the reason. I am boggling along with you.

i know they used allergy & cold medication to make meth, maybe that's the reason.

I have to sign and show my driver's license every time I buy sudafed now.

But Zoloft is an anti-depressant ala Prozac or something. It's not a narcotic at all. IDK what the deal is.

I wonder if this particular practice got in trouble for over prescribing or something.
