So we finished Daredevil. I really enjoyed the first season. I think Fisk is a wonderful villain. I like that the show made him multi-dimensional and that he was a character for whom we can feel some empathy. I didn't like Vanessa much at first; she seemed strangely combative with Fisk and none of her dresses fit her properly which is such an OCC note for someone of such taste, devoted to aesthetics, etc. However, once she pulled that gun out of her purse and admitted that she knew Fisk is dangerous, I started to like her more. I definitely liked her by the end. I'd love to see her return as a villain in her own right.

I hate that Ben was killed. I'm not surprised, exactly, but I will miss his character.

I was surprised that Wesley died. Not being familiar with the comics, up until his death, I actually thought he was going to be the true villain, the true evil mastermind behind Fisk's empire. I really appreciate how much he loved Fisk and how much Fisk loved him in return. That hit a poignant note for me.

I was also surprised that they managed to bring Fisk down. I saw that as a multi-season endeavor. I'm glad Karen got to have at least the closure of seeing him jailed and all the tendrils of his operation snipped away before the next Big Bad shows up.

I'm glad the three of them seem to have healed their differences. I hated Foggy being upset with Matt even though I totally understand his anger.

Initially, I thought the show was shipping Foggy/Karen. They certainly seemed to go on enough dates. So I was upset when Mrs. Cardenas essentially calls Foggy Karen's boyfriend and Karen recoils from that and indicates that she favors Matt. But then Foggy started seeing his old girlfriend, and Matt broke up with Rosario Dawson, and now I'm okay with the show going in a Matt/Karen direction (although I would still prefer Foggy/Karen).

Really looking forward to the next season.

We also watched Spy last night, and it was so good. I didn't watch the movie when it came out because the trailers convinced me it was terrible. The marketing for this movie was awful. It did not reflect at all the quality of the film.

I love Susan's journey to badassery (which mainly involves her acknowledging the badassery that's already there rather than having to cultivate any). I love her friendship with Nancy and that Nancy gets to be a badass, too. I love that little smile Raina gives Susan right before she's hauled away. There should be a metric fuckton of femslash for that, by the way. People should write that for Easter. Just saying.

I loved Spy too! I saw it at the movies twice. Such great characters and so many great gags (I loved the infestations at the office)!

I don't know if you follow [community profile] bestthingever, but someone posted a rec for a Susan/Raina fic there today: http://bestthingever.dreamwidth.org/124532.html

I've put Spy on my list of DVDs I want to buy. I'm kind of annoyed with myself because the price on the Blu-ray on Amazon was under $10 when I first looked and is now almost $20.

Scott and I both loved the movie. We actually watched all of the extras. They went on and on and on, but we kept clicking and watching more.

I haven't tried that fic yet because I was too brain dead when it came across my screen. The excerpt made me laugh, though, because it was so in character for both of them. I'm hoping to be able to read the story today.

T just about quit the show in RAEG right then, altho it would've been pointless because it was all already made and that was so close to the ending. He was really pissed, though.

I liked Fisk a lot -- I've been a fan of that actor since Criminal Intent, and I thought his final speech was amazing. I really liked DD when I saw it, but I gotta admit Jessica Jones blew it out of the water for me. I'll be really interested to see S2, though!

OH GOD, the Cell, visually stunning but it gave me ACTUAL nightmares. That was one of the flicks where I finally was like "No, I get nightmares, for days, I just can't see horror films, and that's what I'll tell people." Hah.

JESSICA JONES JESSICA JONES JESSICA JONES. That was basically MY TV show. (I mean, if you don't like it or bounce off it, that's obviously fine, I hate pushing stuff on people -- but -- I loved it so.)

As for me, I loooved the Fisk/Vanessa/Wesley trio of the first season. LOL, apparently the first season for me was all Bad Guys Trio + Deborah Ann Woll. *shakes head*
/I'd love to see her return as a villain in her own right./ - Tell me about it. Actually, I did wrote a ficlet about that and watching season 2 of DD (no spoilers) succeeded only in making me want to write a sequel for that or something... *shakes head*
Yay for Vanessa taking charge of things from the outside and becoming the next big bad and freeing her Wilson!
Though, you know, I never noticed that detail about her clothes not fitting well, I guess I'll have to check now, you made curious.
