1. I have started to receive Christmas cards. Thank you, [personal profile] talitha78, [personal profile] crazydiamondsue, and [personal profile] spikedluv! <3

2. I've been rewatching SGA with Emma; we're almost done with season one. Here's some observations from this first season. I was mostly making them for fic writing purposes, so they're a little disjointed but might be of interest.

THE RISING

O'Neill and Sheppard have such an affinity with each other.

So much fic portrays Sheppard as being utterly sanguine about the revelations at the Antarctic base, but he's pretty freaked out to begin with.

I had forgotten how playful Ford is and the way he tricks Sheppard.

The show goes over the top making Bates and Sumner act like dicks.

Elizabeth just likes that Sheppard gets under Sumner's skin; she doesn't really know Sheppard yet or trust him

Teyla says her people believe going into the ruins of the city will bring the Wraith; why don't they blame Sheppard and his people in the aftermath? I wonder if there's any fic where the Athosians completely reject the expedition as a result. I guess we're supposed to assume they raze Athos? Because they never go back and explore those Ancient ruins and it could be full of tech.

Love that moment when Elizabeth protects Ford.

I had forgotten how much Sheppard pushes for allies and is open to meeting other people and cultures.

I had remembered that John and Rodney took awhile to warm up to each other, but they gravitate to each other from the start.

HIDE AND SEEK

Rodney and Sheppard already palling around, grinning at each other like loons.

Rodney has the necessary courage! I love it.

38 MINUTES

John calms Rodney down and redirects him.

Even at this stage in their relationship, Rodney is very worried about John.

Elizabeth refuses to allow Teyla to have death rites, and I think that was a huge mistake and insulting to the Athosians. I think she's afraid of death and afraid to confront it. I think that's why she's so obsessed with the Ancients and Ascension.

SUSPICION

Sheppard at Rodney's bedside!

Halling suggests Teyla thinks the expedition is like the Ancients; she says she sees Atlantis as hope against the Wraith.

McKay instantly goes back for Sheppard; wants to go back for Teyla and Ford.

CHILDHOOD'S END

Sheppard's face when McKay mentions Carter.

POISONING THE WELL

Elizabeth: These are not exactly the type of decisions I was planning to make on this expedition

HOME

We see all this stuff about Sheppard and none of it's real; that's not his house or his stuff. We learn nothing about him about this "return" to Earth.

What would McKay do? (I think this might actually be from "The Storm.")

BROTHERHOOD

Why is McKay so worked up about them laughing, etc? He seems to be a little over-the-top in his focus on finding the ZPM.

Love the episode with Linda and Chloe playing in Lucifer's penthouse. Love getting the back story of how he met Candie. Interesting revelation that Ella used to count cards to "quiet the voices." I'm excited to hear what that's about. Love that Chloe's gift was in the safe and that it was the bullet she shot him with!

Love the episode with Linda's ex-husband. I liked seeing more about her past, and I loved seeing more about what hell is like. He's caught in a loop, relieving the worst time of his life over and over, and he could open the door and leave at any time, but he doesn't.

Love the episode where Lucifer is afraid he's getting boring. "I'm so good at flipping men they call me the skillet." *dies laughing* Apparently Oscar Wilde was straight before Lucifer got to him. Chloe is so good at physical humor; when she's trying to be sexy and rubbing that olive all over her face, Josh and I died laughing. Love the moment of connection between Linda and Amenadiel; looks a little romantical.

And I'm right! The latest episode has Linda and Amenadiel hooking up. Maze is going to be pissed when she finds out. And we finally see the Sinnerman. I think his capture was too easy. I'm interested to see how that plays out, what his connection is to Marcus and why the Sinnerman is so focused on Lucifer.

Ed's transformation this season is interesting. I loved him dressing up like Penguin in the ring. So funny. I wish he'd be able to reject the Riddler persona, but I know he won't.

The episode where Piggie takes over Sophia's orphanage takes on a new significance when you realize that Sophia hired him. He stabs her through the hand, presumably with her permission, to keep up the charade. Penguin is just masterful in this episode. He's so worried about Martine that he shovels down dead homeless people. He just loses his shit, and it's fantastic. When he blows up Martine, it's such a oh-shit moment and then such a reveal when you realize Penguine left him an escape route.

Josh called it that Sophia killed her dad, and I couldn't believe it, but he was right. She is diabolical. I love what a conniving, cold hearted character she is. Zsaz switches loyalty to Sophia because he believes Penguin killed Falcone, but I think he'll eventually figure out the truth and regret selling out Penguin. Love the way Penguin goes full-on Gollum when Zsaz sells him out.

Penguin is the number one draw for me. That actor is just comedic gold, and he manages to be so funny and ridiculous while also generating sympathy.
