BUT I LIED!
I will at least follow it up with something less so. LOL
1. Our oven died. We have been in this house not even 8 months yet, and we've had to replace one faucet and the underthings of two additional sinks. The whirlpool bath got stuck whirling without responding to the off button for awhile, and now I'm afraid to use the jets. And now the oven.
We could replace the motherboard for nearly 700 dollars with a 30 day (YES, I SAID 30 DAY, MY FRIENDS) warranty, but screw that noise. So new oven it is. What we have now is an oven/microwave combo, and what we really want is a double oven. Double ovens are even cheaper (400-1000 dollars cheaper) than replacing what we have. However, they are also bigger, so a carpenter is going to have to go into either the cabinet above or below what we've got going on which will cost who knows what.
2. I am so freaking tired of Emma's school being a source of misery and stress for her. Right now, the problem is her chemistry teacher. I've been teaching long enough that not only is it clear to me that this teacher is not a good one, the ways in which she is floundering are clear. First, she's been absent a lot but trying to keep to the same testing schedule despite her missing days. Second, there's a mismatch between her assessment and the content of her course. She explains things in a very elementary way, and then her tests assess those concepts but at a higher level and with different vocabulary than she's used to teach. She's not creating her own tests which is always a potential problem (I mean, I've used tests created by others before, especially when teaching remedial grammar or reading comprehension, so I don't think it's always bad to use them), and when she's asked for explanations or to clarify a concept, she just repeats what she's said before in the exact same words. This tells me that she doesn't really know her subject--she doesn't know it well enough to make an effective assessment, and she doesn't know it well enough to explain a concept in a variety of ways. Anyone who knows a concept well enough can provide multiple examples and approach that concept from a variety of angles. Third and most irritating to me, she has made a pet of several students who I'm assuming go to her church and is rude to the other students.
I called the school today and left an anonymous message for the principal about how this woman gave one student the extra credit material that's supposed to be for the rest of the class and failed to inform the rest of the students and I'm sure that's an oversight and not just her benefiting the student with whom she clearly has a personal relationship outside of class. Bless her heart. /flames on the side of my face
3. I am still waiting to hear back from endo re: labs and steps forward, and it's been two weeks already! I'm ready to move forward on this. I am so tired that it's really bringing me down.
4. I took Emma to her pediatrician while we are waiting for her rheumatology appointment to come around on March 4 because she reported a new symptom, a burning sensation in her arms (and, oh, my friends have I not gone down that rabbit hole because at the end of it is MS and a bunch of other scary shit), and I think he said, I mean I don't know. I can't decide if I'm overreacting, if he was just trying to prepare me for us not being able to figure out what's wrong with her in a quick and easy way and just did that like a dumbass or what. But he basically said that she's anxious and this is probably all psychosomatic, and he's not sure he'll be able to help us at all re: trying to get her accommodations at school because chronic tendonitis isn't really a diagnosis.
I don't know what to do. If we get no answers at rheumatology, he has offered to refer us to a neurologist, which we will do. And then, I think I'm sacking him and trying a new ped if that goes nowhere because SOMETHING IS FUCKING WRONG WITH MY DAUGHTER AND IT IS AFFECTING EVERY FACET OF HER LIFE YOU FUCKHEAD. /flames on the other side of my face
Alright. Better shit to post ahead.

Date: 2019-02-20 11:45 pm (UTC)What I'm saying is that you are definitely not overreacting. Once a doctor has decided it's all in her head, he can fuck up your relationship with the school and also your ability to get specialists to really take the problem seriously. Don't be shy about threatening his career and reputation if he starts doing this.

Date: 2019-02-21 01:06 am (UTC)Thank you for reminding me how serious this can be. I am not letting him within a ten foot pole of the school if that's all he's got to say. I will find another doctor before I let him put something like that on her permanent record.

Date: 2019-02-21 01:31 am (UTC)UGH. My sympathies. Coincidentally, my high school Chemistry teacher had this exact same problem! It was so bad that I would definitely have failed that subject if my dad hadn't taken it upon himself to teach me directly from the textbook using his own analogies to explain the basic concepts. I managed to scrape by with a passing grade, but am still bitter about what a terrible teacher she was. :/

Date: 2019-02-21 03:14 am (UTC)I do think you are right to be worried about the pediatrician. He's jumping to unwarranted, potentially harmful conclusions about your daughter.

Date: 2019-02-22 10:25 pm (UTC)It's just getting all overwhelming.
My dad has had an infection since before Christmas, and he can't shake it, I'm worried that if he goes into the hospital, that'll be the beginning of the end. All these years with cancer, and he's never been hospitalized, but I think his luck is about to run out.
Boo! Hiss!

Date: 2019-02-23 04:00 am (UTC)Eeep. :( I hope the infection is beaten back without that, but that's a long time to have one. Crap.

Date: 2019-02-22 10:27 pm (UTC)That'll be the next step if rheumtalogy or neurology yield nothing. It just sucks because whoever it is, it will be a drive to get there.

Date: 2019-02-22 10:29 pm (UTC)I'm so glad you had your mom to advocate for you. I think all the time about how many kids don't have parents who have the resources to do that for their kids, and it upsets me.
