amejisuto asked: What does your hubby think of all your fandom friends?
Josh was way ahead of me in terms of making internet friends. Starting in about 1999-2000, he became super involved in AOL chatrooms and made a couple friends there that have lasted, both of whom he has gone to visit and have come to visit us over the years. So he understands my fandom friends are real friends and has never been derisive about it the way some spouses who are not in fandom can unfortunately be. He's met a few of my online friends (
executrix,
hermionesviolin, and
crazydiamondsue) and thinks they are as cool as I do.
This is only tangentially related to the question, but I wish I could get him interested in writing. He is so witty and funny; I think he would be a really good writer of fiction or creative nonfiction, but he is negative percent interested. LOL Which is fine. I just think we're all missing out. His Iron Fist crack fic would take the fandom by storm!

The Dandy: Brummell to Beerbohm by Ellen Moers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is absolutely fantastic. Moers has a very engaging authorial voice, and the book is fun to read.
I especially enjoyed learning more about Max Beerbohm as he wrote one of the few pieces of criticism on Ouida (More 1899).
My one criticism is that Moers doesn't translate any of the extensive French quotes she includes.
