1. The article I submitted to the ebook on teaching during the pandemic was accepted! Yay!

2. spikedluv and I have been talking about the HGTV show Hometown which is set in Laurel about an hour and a half north of where I grew up. I enjoy the show because the main couple is just so sweet, because she's a talented artist, and because everybody talks right. LOL

spikedluv sent me a gift certificate to their online store, so I just bought this super cool t-shirt.

Such an unexpected and generous gift.

3. I ordered some more things from Jetpens: a broad nibbed Lamy in black, a pencil board to use in my Tomoe River paper notebook (the paper is so thin that just normal writing really indents the next page), and two rolls of sparkly washi tape.

I have inked up the Lamy, and it's going to take a bit of getting used to; there's zero feedback from the nib, and it just glides across the page. I think the medium nib is going to end up being my preferred size, but I think I'm going to like the broad nib as well.

4. I have gotten so many things done and items crossed off my list and scraps of paper thrown away. It is glorious!

It is so true, though. I get a disturbing amount of pleasure of crossing things off the list, tearing out the used sheet of paper, throwing away the thing that's done. It's just so cathartic.

I spent so long feeling paralyzed and really insecure about publishing; I know that rejection is in my future because that's just part of it, but I am so glad that these first forays have been successful. They've allowed me to get over that insecurity and when the rejections do come, I think I'll be able to shrug them off in a way that I wouldn't have as easily if I'd gone through rounds of rejections to start with.

Of all of the shows I watch on HGTV, I love Hometown best. I love that they're fixing up old houses instead of tearing them down. I also love that they don't rip down every single interior wall in service of the inexplicably popular "open concept." I like having rooms, thank you very much.

How is Kyle doing? Do you know anything new about his diagnosis/treatment? (Or just tell me to buzz off if you don't want to talk about it.)

He's doing okay. We don't know any more than we did a month ago. He had his five week follow-up appointment with the surgeon this week. Essentially, Kyle has to have surveillance scans of some kind every six months for the next five years, assuming he lives that long, plus whatever follow-up the radiation oncology and ENT docs want him to do. He has an appointment with his medical oncologist on the 23rd of this month. I am hoping she'll have more to say about his diagnosis then.
