I need some calm and peace and comfort and strength and love and light in my life.

To that end, I would appreciate it if you would tell me about your religious, spiritual, mystical, and/or secular practices, rituals, or behaviors that give you the aforementioned.

Note: I would be delighted with lateral discussion; as a teacher, it is always my goal LOL. However, I will not tolerate any negative comments about peoples' beliefs and practices in this post (which I know is an unnecessary disclaimer as you all are the loveliest people who would never dream of being that kind of jackass).

OH! I forgot to add. Be kind to yourself. If you miss a day or something, it's all good. You can pick it up again. Be your own best friend. If you wouldn't be mad at your best friend for missing out on something, don't be mad at yourself. Give yourself a hug and figure that you'll just try again. It's all good.

There for a while, when I was having problems with depression, I was playing negative tapes to myself. You know, the old, I hate myself, I'm stupid, yadda yadda yadda. Then someone pointed out that if you wouldn't talk to your best friend that way, why are you talking to yourself that way? That really helped me.

So be kind to yourself. I like the idea that every day is a new start. New days are something we are gifted with, not promised.

I think everyone has that negative tape in their head and it's difficult to eject it. Affirmations can help. Maybe try those? When you say something bad to yourself, say three positive things. There's a power in threes. Can't hurt.
