I am sure this will surprise precisely none of you, but I really liked this movie. The pacing was good. The music was so effectively used. The special effects were stellar (mostly). And, oh the character moments.

All in all, a fine way to end (or is that begin?) a franchise.

1. I got promoted at work! Associate Professor Lunabee at your service. :)

2. I finished my Yuletide story last night. Gonna let it sit for most of the day, do one last edit, and upload. Whew.

3. I have one AO3 invite to share. First come, first served.

4. We took Emma out of school a wee tad early to see the 2-D The Hobbit.

I'm about to commit some heresy here. Please step ten feet to the right to avoid being struck by Nerd Lightning )

Apparently I am tempted to co-opt the language of the much be-loathed (well, by me) tumblr because, y'all, I HAVE ALL THE PHEELS!!!!!!

After reading Ariel Tachna's brilliant Price of Pride, I went on this week to rewatch all the LoTR movies, and I've begun rereading The Hobbit as well, and I find have Things To Say about them.

I do not expect that any of these Things will be novel as fandom and academia have had quite some time to dissect The Lord of the Rings, so you know, dead horse meta alert. LOL
